Need help choosing

Currently I have a Sony 50" DLP. Looking to upgrade. I have done a lot of researching and a little viewing (only as Best Buy so far). I am pretty much down to three. VT30, GT30, or D8000. I really like the picture on the VT30 but that is also the only one I have seen in a dark room with it's own content rather than a split signal.

My viewing area is just over 9 ft. I would say 9.4 but I may be able to squeeze a little more out of it but I don't think it would matter overall.

Purpose, I want a bigger / better picture. I play video games and watch lots of sports. I have my share of blu-rays as well.

I don't know what size to go with. I am thinking the 60gt30 would be the right size but not sure. budget is under $2000.

I'm about the same viewing distance that you're and and I was going to go with 59'' but after viewing xfinity 720p content on my buddies 60'' plasma at my distance I opted for for 51'' instead. At that size and distance with such a highly compressed 720p signal the picture was just too pixelated for me.

The drawback to this obviously is gaming and bluray 1080p content but my quick fix to that is to just move my chair to about 5' from my screen.

I'd say just take into consideration all factors when deciding on what size you want. If majority of viewing content is cable or satellite tv I'd go smaller. If majority is uncompressed 1080p content go as big as you can within your budget.

Thanks for the response. Is there any reason for the VT over the GT except for the extra calibration options?

Samsung D Series are great choices as well. They currently are and have a fix for their only problem, the brightness pops. Its still a little hit and miss but both have problems. Panny has green blob etc.

But id never go under 59 inches and im at 11' sitting range, So if ur 9 feet. Stay 55 and up
