Wii U - Page 30

I was at Walmart to pick up the two I pre-ordered at midnight. There were about 10 people in line to get them, and luckily for them, they had 10 systems that were going on the shelf. 5 back and 5 white.

I'm downloading the update now and it is taking forever.

I connected it to my receiver via HDMI, but wasn't getting a signal. Not sure what's up with that. I have it going directly to the TV for now.

Finally got it connected to my network. I had to enter everything manually. Downloading the update now.

So, is Wii-U basically a step that Nintendo is taking AWAY from the motion sensor bar/controllers?

It can still use motion sensor in the controller, and it still comes with the motion sensor IR bar. The old Wii controller + optional nunchuck act as controllers 2 through 5.

Got mine around 730 this morning at Walmart. I got one on lay-a-way. I've been downloading this damn update for like 2 hours now. Anybody else's taking this long? I know my internet is moody sometimes, but this is insane.

And also, how do you get the gamepad controller to control a cablevision box? I hit the tv button and so far I can only get it to control the tv itself, and when I hit guide, my only options are antenna, and cable WITHOUT a cable box.

Download and install of the update took about 30 minutes for me. Set everything up, including the external hard drive. Noticed eShop offered a few of the launch games for purchase and download. Just finished boxing it back up, since it's my son's Christmas present.

WiiTV is coming in December.

I tried to do the eShop thing also and it asked for my user name and password. What would my user name be? I put in what I thought it was and it said it was incorrect. Then I put in my e-mail I used to register everything and that didn't work either

Yeah I saw that, I had to wait for the 2 hour update to finish before I was able to see that

Nintendo Land is incredibly deep and diverse for a pack in game. This game alone is worth the price of admission. Wow...

Not sure. I actually didn't try and buy anything just looked around. And I've already wrapped it for Christmas so I can't see how to do it. Sorry.

Just went to my local Wal-Mart and they had all of the white ones still. If you're having trouble finding one try a nearby small town Wal-Mart. Might have better luck.

Picked mine up from best buy and grabbed Scribblenauts since it was on sale while I wait for the rest of my games. Best Buy had a few of each sku sitting on a pallet but people were still checking out so I don't know if they were all accounted for or not. I stopped by Walmart on the way home to pick up a few things and they did have a few of the basics sitting on the shelf.

The update is taking forever, but I won't play until after the Packer game anyway. It's nice being able to see the update status on the controller while I watch the game though.

Has anyone paid attention to the ZombiU's reviews? They are all over the place from horrible to great. I won't get my copy for a few days so I look forward to everyone's impressions.

I just got super mario bros u and I can't figure out how to play with another person. I have the game pad and a wii remote. I synced the wii remote with the wii u and I can't get the wii-mote to show up as player 2. Instead, it keeps coming up as another FIRST player remote. Both the game pad and the wii-mote control the first player. What am I doing wrong?

I have never been to a midnight launch before, but had my Wii on pre order at Best Buy..

Showed up at 11:10pm to a line of around 100... stood there til 11:30... employee starts walking the line and comes to a point well in front of me saying they are our of consoles to sell and cuts the line off..

Asks if there are any preorders in line and takes me inside (there were no other console preorders waiting..)

it's 10 miles from my house and I was home by 12:20.. even with my 50mbps internet connection, it took around 50 minutes for the first update to take (each game (SMDU and NL about 5 minutes each..)

But on another more important note..

There seems to be a great deal of overscan on the HDMI output... and that is after turning screen protection off.

If you go to the eShop you can clearly see text and the left side icons are cut off...

Am I the only one who has noticed this?

I did all the updates took pretty long. Didn't play any games yet but Netflix works really nice. Switching between the tv and gamepad is fast and looks really good on either screen !

Yes, thanks for posting this - I noticed it too.

Also, I'm only getting Dolby Pro Logic, but I've only played NintendoLand. Anyone getting anything other than PRoLogic?

I didn't notice that, I actually saw the opposite while watching Netflix. I noticed tiny black bars at the top and bottom of my screen while watching a movie. I will take a closer look elsewhere to see If I see any overscan.

my preorder got screwed up. I found out on Friday and had come to terms with not getting it but the obsession hit me today. No local places had any left.

for any others who may have had something similar happen, walmart has some deluxe versions online now listed as in stock in a bundle with 2 games. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nintendo-Wii-U-Solution-Bundle-w-Customer-Choice-of-Two-Wii-U-Games/21803986

I ordered one of these hoping they have them in hand and it'll actually ship sometime in the next week or so. If it's going to be delay after delay I may end up having to continue searching.

Nevermind - I found the setup defaults to stereo, but under TV in the options there's a place to swtich over to surround. All's good. cool.gif

Yeah, I went through the settings just for kicks and stumbled on that. Also, I made sure to increase the turn off time.

The range on the controller worked out for me. My console is in a closet 30-35ft away with a wall in between and no problems at all.

I have the same issue with overscan. I just looked at miiverse but it was obviously way off. I used to have the opposite issue with the wii. I hate to mess with my tv settings as everything uses that same input.

Thanks, that's what I did and it worked. And my friends girlfriend used the game pad to help us out by placing blocks that we could jump on to help us make our way to the end of each level smile.gif

Wii BC outputs in 1080p but it is still a 480p signal at it's core. Playing Xenoblade right now to test it out.

I picked up Sonic Racing with my system while I wait for my Newegg preorders to arrive on Wednesday.

Nintendo Network ID = Pendragoon

Does it scale everything to your selected output resolution, just like the 360? That's where the PS3 got things so very wrong.

So far that is what it seems to be doing. It probably had a proper scaler.
