Noob: PC speaker drivers in custom box?

Hi
I'm a noob, very interested in building speakers, so forgive me in advance

I would like to build 5.1 speaker system for my htpc. I have few pairs of older plastic PC speakers and was wondering would the sound be improved if I use their drivers with wooden box that I would made with somewhat better crossover than they originally have? If yes, how much better sound than original should I expect (in %)?

Also, I'm not looking for a sound paradise, just as cheaper project as it can get for start so I could learn basics

You may want to start with some OS speakers

probably a little, but really not worth it if you ask most folks.

adding a subwoofer might really make a difference in the "fun" department even if it is a modest one.
