Freeagent HD Theater+,,

Thread Starter
I was hoping to find a sub forum dedicated to this device. I was wondering if any custom firmware's were out. I just got this from a friend and it plays video nicely. I only have two gripes.

1. I stream media from a HTPC to my bedroom, and u have to manually navigate to your nework shares whenever you boot the device, it will not save your last browsing history at all

2. I also own a mediagate mg-25 and it runs great. but one of the best things I liked was if you power down the device while your in a video.. the next time you power it up it resumes right from where you were in that video automatically from boot,,,,,, was wondering if there was a way to add this option in a custom firm.

Im no programmer but I figured there would be custom builds floating around. Any info would be greatly appreciated

There was a thread for it but it is a dead product. Actually, it was dead while they were still selling it. The last firmware update was v2.23 a year ago (2/11). Seagate is not really into these players and only sold them as a vehicle to sell their portable hard drives -- the players have a dock for their portable HDD's. When Seagate introduced the GoFlex series drives and discontinued the FreeAgent series they introduced a new GoFlex media player. This was exactly the same player as the FreeAgent + (they shared a common manual) and used the same firmware. The only difference was the case -- the new GoFlex player had a dock for the new GoFlex drives. They still list and sell the GoFlex media player but guess what -- it hasn't had a firmware update in a year either. It's current firmware is v2.23, the same one as for the FAT+.

So bottom line is check the firmware version and if it is not 2.23 you can upgrade it to that. Afterwards the player will never be anything more. And no, it doesn't improve navigation. You still have to drill down through all the folders each time to get where you want to go.
