Comcast remote codes for Yamaha YHT-S400 sounbar

I have the Comcast 3-in-1 remote (model 1067BG3) that works fine with my new Toshiba 32" 3D LED HDTV and Motorola DCX3200 cable box. But I can't get any of the 5 digit Yamaha codes that are in remote's paperwork (revised 2008) to work with the Yamaha YHT-S400 soundbar I just received. All I need is to have the 3-in-1 remote's AUX to be able to use the Power and Volume with the Yamaha soundbar. I really hate having to use the remote that came with the soundbar just to turn it on/off and adjusting volume (which I do a lot between programs).

If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

None of the Comcast remotes have the code(s) for Yamaha sound bars. The Verizon/Frontier FIOS remotes have a code that will work for volume, but not powering the Yamaha on/off. I leave my Yamaha sound bar on all the time using this remote. Maybe parts express or ebay would have this remote cheap.

A Logitech Harmony remote would be the best option, even one of the low end models like the 650. Added benefit would be also programming sound mode buttons to be available in activities, such as Watch TV.

Yeah, I really didn't want to fool with the added expense of buying another remote and all the programing. That's why I was hoping there was a way to get it working on the Comcast 3-in-1 remote.

But as of now this is what I'm using...

The Comcast 3-in-1 remote for turning the Toshiba 32TL515U on & off, and for controlling the Motorola DCX3200M box for changing channels, program info, DVR access, On-Demand, etc.

Toshiba remote that came with the HDTV for accessing its Net Apps, Netflix, DLNA streaming, 3D. I don't use this remote all the time, but need it for those specific features.

JVC remote for the combo DVD/VHS player (Play, pause, etc.)

And now the Yamaha remote to turn the soundbar on/off and for volume.

So that's 4 remotes I've got on the night-stand, which takes up too much space. The Comcast 3-in-1 remote I've been able to use 80% of the time, and only had to use the Toshiba and JVC remotes when using those special features.

If I have to get a new universal remote, which do you think is the best to get to control all four devices (TV, cable box, DVD/VHS, soundbar)?

As stated, the best remote would be a Logitech Harmony. The 650 or 700 for entry level or the Harmony One for color touch screen with a charging dock. The software is pretty good at helping you get setup, but you should make sure your devices are setup for discrete (separate IR codes) for ON and OFF (except Comcast cable box that has single button for on/off). This is done by going into the devices, settings for the device and and selecting 'Adjust Power Settings'. This way your single power OFF always turns most devices off.

Local store as the Harmony 700 listed for $70, so I'll probably pick one up later this week to try out.

Do you recommend using the regular Harmony software or the v7.7 software. Not sure which is better in my case.

Stopped by that store, and all of their locations are sold-out of the Harmony 700 and only had the 900 left in-stock for $250. So I'll probably have to by the 700 (or 650) on-line.

Most stores price-match local competitors. $70 for the Harmony 700 is a very good deal.

I guess I could print the $70 ad price from the BrandsMart site and take it to Best Buy to see if they would match it (as their site lists it for $120). Amazon is just under $99.

Edit: I called Best Buy and they do have it for 119, but say they only price match if the other store has it in stock. It still would be worth going there and try to have them price match it.

Went to Best Buy yesterday with the printed ad and they were able to price-match the Harmony 700 at the $70, so I ended up buying two of them. Using the MyHarmony software, I was able to program the remote to work with the devices, including the Yamaha soundbar. Not sure if its OK as-is, or if I should try the v7.7 software.
