Zoyd, just one thing : YOU ARE A GENIUS !
Like I said in the FBr fix thread, I ran some tests today and what a success !
Part 1 => I put my old logicboard, September 2011 frimware in my new panel : great, no pixel misfires and no more pops
Part 2=> YRR pot correct setting ( only YRR ) and this one in incredible !
I'll talk about the black mll after. Before that, I noticed an unexpected an awesome bonus.
Previously, with my old panel and also the new one, I had a lot of picture noise on my picture ( sort green snow ), nothing I can view from normal viewing distance but clearly visible if I was near the screen.
With the pot setting ( with no pixels misfires of course ), the noise is gone on pictures and clearly inferior on videos, so this noise is also YRR related ? That means our sets come at home with really bad factory settings.
Black mll, OUAOUH !
- 100% black picture : 0.019 ftL
- Black bars in scene 38 Revenge of the Sith ( sample in the Fbr thread ) : 0.020 to 0.040 ftL
- 100% black picture : 0.0075 ftL
- Black bars in scene 38 Revenge of the Sith ( sample in the Fbr thread ) : 0.0107 to 0.0161 ftL
It took me 2 hours total but what a result, shame on me to not have done this before
I just had one strange thing, after my first try to set the YRR pot, no misfires, all was perfect, I remount the back plate on my set, put all my cables in, swith on and.... a lot of pixel misfires.
I unmout the set again, test, misfires still there, I settled the pot again until misfires disappear, remount the set and all was OK.
I really don't understand what happened the first time.
My final YRR setting is one quarter clockwise than the original setting, that's really huge and confirm that the sets leave the factory with very " large and safe " settings... but you have grey-blacks
By the way, thanks too for the link, I'll have a look on this patterns Edited by KevinNash - 8/4/12 at 2:35pm
