LT155 at *only* 60hz refresh?

Hi my friends,

I'm a bit confused. I've read that 72hz is a better refresh rate for some projectors, because it's an even multiple the source. But, I also read in a recent thread that with the LT150 projector only 60hz should be used (and that any other refresh rate will get changed by the projector, causing artifacts).

Is this accurate and, if so, am I correct in assuming that it would also apply to my LT155?

Why don't you just run some tests to see if there is a problem or not?

Basically most of LCD/DLP projectors have problems when running at anything else than 60Hz refresh rate.

Thanks for the reply, tk. I'm currently running at 72hz and the proj specs indicate it'll accept up to 100hz. I'm not sure that I even see a difference between 60 and 72hz.

My concern isn't that there's a problem. I just wondered if what I read about the 150 was correct, and if it applied to my 155 also from a quality standpoint.

I also own the LT155. As far as I can see from testing, the projector *accepts* various refresh rates, but it coerces (for lack of a better term) the signal to its native refresh (60Hz). Switching between 60Hz and 72Hz on your HTPC for example appear to do nothing. Some refresh rates even make the picture look worse (85, 100, maybe). I've left mine at 60 as it alleviates the projector from converting the signal.

If I'm wrong, I'd sure like more information about the subject...

Thanks for the input. I, too, noticed no real dif between 60 and 72 hz. I also saw that higher rates didn't look so hot - sort of fuzzy, actually.

If the 155 *does* indeed change everything to 60hz, there seems to be no point in my feeding it anything else then. Like you said, though, I'd sure like some more expert input on this too.

All pj's are outputting at 60Hz. Most LCD flat panel displays, too, except for the newest generations.

Jim's right - no matter what you feed em, you'll see 60 Hz on the screen.
