Anamorphic stretch with a HTPC with no lens to fill the screen?

I own a Benq W1200 which doesnt support A-stretch

So I am looking to go down the HTPC root and some how fill my 2.35.1 screen. Is this possible some how?

Am confused on how to do it and if there is some type of easy switching between 16.9 and cinemascope movies?

Any advice is appreciated!

Set up a custom resolution (1920 x 820 or so). Assuming you are using WMC, it'll scale everything automatically, and you'll get black bars on the sides for 16:9 content, but anamorphic content will fill the whole screen.

Thanks!! - Is there much loss in quality ?

I do have a anamorphic lens but was planning on selling it, would using the lens offer much better quality?, as might just keep it

The lens is always the better option. Is there a loss in quality? Absolutely. Is it visible? Well...that depends on your screen size, seating distance...quality of your eyes...
