It appears to be their regular price. If you don't want to spend the $50 on a membership you could always ask to use your friend's membership to order it online.

I'm not familiar with Amazon's extended warranty, but a lot of people seem to be happy with Square Trade. You can buy the S.T. warranty from many places, but it seems to be about the cheapest at Costco.
