My spouse & I have a Toshiba BDX1100KU Blu-ray player (with the BR-live feature) and we have not been able to use the "episode selection" feature on this HBO set without the player locking up. The player seems to do its' version of a blue screen of death. (instead, it is a bright white screen). For those users that have tried to find a firmware update for this Toshiba model, Toshiba tells users in the FAQ section that no firmware update is available. None of my PC's have Blu-ray drives in them, so I can't tell folks if this method of watching the Blu-ray discs would work.
Turning the BR-live feature off has no effect. For a work around, we use the chapter advance key on the remote to advance to the next episode. The other main menu features of the discs work fine. There is a "biography feature" that is handy for insight into some of the characters.
The picture quality is stunning (in my opinion) and the audio is very good as well. I'm still glad that we bought this version (discounted, of course
But if we paid the full MSRP at HBO for example, I'd be very angry.
Overall -I'd give this a thumbs up. BUT - to HBO: Guys, get this fixed! What would Nucky Thompson say?
