You will definitely want to do that as on the .1 channel, you will miss a good amount of content that your mains won't be picking up if you cross lower than 120hz (on the .1 channel that is) You can cross your mains at whatever you feel like, but always keep the LFE at 120hz.

Getting there. I have been playing with a DCX the last few days but it really hasnt done anything better than what my SMS-1 has already been doing.

However, I was browsing the MINIdsp site last night and the OpenDRC-AN caught my eye. It seems like it'll do way more than what i need but i like the fact that it has actual XLR connections (no Phoenix) and it comes with the power supply. Any thoughts on it??

No experience with the DCX, but I'm liking what the mini has done for my subs thus far.

Thoughts... Why am I just now seeing this!!!!! Looks outstanding at first glance. I haven't had a chance to compare it side-by-side to my 10x10HD, but XLR's in/outs have always been a major sticking point for most potential owners. That thing looks like it might be the ticket. I'll look into it more tonight.

4 Ghorns would have the 12-25hz output of 16 sealed 5400's with 4kw each... eek.gif

I have been thinking about getting one of the OpenDRC-AN units. Its 2x2 but for my application that should be fine (front subs and rear subs). I also like the xlr instead of phoenix connections.

It does look much better than on the miniDSP website. I thought it would be silver, black is better.

Sick! Yeah, being able to shelf down to 10Hz is awesome too! I don't have any first hand experience with the DCX, but I think you are going to love your mini more and more...

Agreed! Realistically I don't think there are many people needing more than 2 outs. More than 2 two just adds layers of complication in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to more feedback dizzel! I'll prob be recommending this to other DIYers with pro amps.

In fact, I haven't seen any mention of this model on the miniDSP thread. You should post up a pic of this beast there. Like I said a few weeks ago, I didn't even know this model existed until you pointed it out to me...lol

So Eric, is that like a minidsp with xlr's? or like a sms or something like that? Not that I watch the minidsp site but this is the first I've seen of it.

Perhaps someone who owns one should start a dedicated thread, miniDSP threat is huge and difficult to follow. I for one gave up due to seperating the wheat from the chaff (yep, originally from a farming community in Kansas, the wheat state).

I'll post the same pics i have here over there. That should help get the word out on this guy. I REALLY think its the way to go for a lot of us using DIY subs.

Yes sir! MINI with XLR's. I think its closer to a DCX than it is to an SMS. One thing i really like is its IR capabilities. You can program most of its functions to a button on a remote of your choice. For example the 3 presets i created today I paired them to the colored buttons on my Oppo remote. Green for the flat curve, blue for the music curve, and red for the HOT house curve! biggrin.gif

The PJ is awesome bro! That and the new screen took the PQ up a few notches. smile.gif

I got it all dialed in right now, but Im only using one input/output for the 4 subs. However I had some cables come in today so i can run the 2 stacks independently. Im hoping to be able to re-run XT32 and EQ everything tonight. I'll post some graphs when I do. smile.gif

Using the mini to EQ the Ultras for some mid-bass I see... How are the Ultras from 100Hz-5kHz anyway? I never got a chance to try that out.
