Hey guys, sorry for a bit of a long read, but I have a small issue here. I'll try my best to explain:
I have a Dell Studio XPS connected to an Onkyo HDMI A/V receiver that runs to my Samsung 51" Plasma. Everything works nearly perfectly fine, with one little hangup; the audio, which is going through the HDMI port of an ATi Radeon 5450.
The problem is that whenever my PC ISN'T playing any audio, the receiver, of course, loses the audio signal completely. So, whenever I DO begin to play a video, music, etc., a quick "pop" is heard, and then a few seconds of silence as the receiver attempts to recognize the signal. The audio signal/codec icons flicker on the display as this is going on.
This delay ends up in the first 4-5 seconds of whatever is playing to be lost as the receiver does its duties. Activites such as pausing playback, etc. results in the loss of the audio signal, and pressing play results in the delay again. Occasionally, this will confuse the receiver, and it will stop recognizing any audio signal from the PC until I go into the audio settings, set my destop speakers to default, and then set the HDMI audio output back as default again.
Is there any fix for this? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but it seems as though I would need to change a setting to make the PC output a persistent audio signal, even if nothing is going on at the given moment.
Thanks in advance!

), but I managed to work it out. The audio drivers were a piece of cake.
Shark007 mentioned drivers, but when Windows told me they were up-to-date, I looked past it. Thanks for the help, guys.
