So, I made one of these threads a while back and then deleted all the pictures from it, and never updated it. I took some new pictures, so I decided I'd post 'em. I apologize for the quality on some of these, this room has dim, soft lighting so it's hard to get a good picture of some things with my iPhone. I'm open to all comments/suggestions. Thanks for looking!

PS: yes, I know the center channel is not centered I gotta work with the space I have, though.

Display: Panasonic TC-P50G20
BD/HD-DVD: Sony BDP-S5000ES, Pioneer BDP-23FD, Toshiba HD-A30
CD: Onkyo DX-C380 changer
Netflix/Airplay: Apple TV Gen 2
Sat: Dish Vip612 DVR
Power: Panamax M-5100PM
Receiver: Pioneer VSX-21TXH + Rocketfish wireless speaker kit for SR/SL
Speakers: B&W 685 mounted atop B&W STAV24 24" stands, B&W HTM61, Energy CB-5 for rears, mounted atop Sanus Natural Foundations stands
Sub: MartinLogan Dynamo 700
Control: Harmony One
Cabling: HDMI cables are a mix of Audioquest Pearl, Cinnamon, Chocolate, and Carbon. Speaker wire is Audioquest X2 for C, SL, and SR. Front L/R use Audioquest Rocket33. Sony BDP-S5000 is also connected to the receiver with a pair of Audioquest G-Snake analog interconnects for CD listening. Optical and subwoofer interconnects are Monster M-Series cabling.

Both BD decks turned on.

So pretty.

The brains of the operation. You can see the rocketfish wireless transmitter sitting on top of it.

The rears - yes, I did cheap out on them My plan eventually is to get a pair of 683s for the the front and send the 685s to surround duty.

the stuff I couldn't fit anywhere else but on my desk.

streaming a lossless ALAC file to the Apple TV from my iPhone.

Scene from "Baraka" (Blu-Ray)

Scene from "Tron: Legacy" (Blu-Ray)

Once again, thanks for looking!!

Nice setup but why multiple blu ray players?

Thanks! Lol, no real reason...I kind of had a compulsion towards buying multiple blu-ray players for a while. The Elite was initially my "main" BD player in this setup, and one day the 5000ES was an AVS store deal so I jumped on it fast as I had a 1000ES in another room that I loved. The 5000ES is built like a tank and a joy to use, the analog section is audiophile grade for music listening, and I like the minor enhancement that the Super Bit Mapping and other filters provide. it's nice having both because I still watch old DVDs sometimes and if it won't play in the Pioneer it may play in the Sony and vice versa.

The neat thing about the HD-DVD player is that it up converts SD DVD to 1080p/24. It usually doesn't look very good, but it's still kinda cool.

Hah, I missed the title too, I thought it was a living room. That's quite a bedroom setup.

A lovely setup, indeed. My only nit is the off-centered center speaker. Any way to solve that nit?

I was thinking of moving the sub and putting a separate small AV tower in its place to house my components, so I could then be able to center my center. Only problem is my sub sounds really good in that part of the room

A member on this forum uses this to raise his/her tv and put his/her cntr underneath. Not sure if yours would fit tough.

Ah yes, I've used that line before.

I would recommend curtains for the window behind the TV. Other than that it looks great.

Wow, that is a very nice setup and in a bedroom at that! Lovely B&W's and love the fact that the whole setup looks very clean. I have a very similar looking audio rack for my living as well.

Btw, the center is not centered :P sorry couldn't resist!

Nice ... The Melvins.

I saw them back in '95 of '96 at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Triple set - I think the tickets read: The Melvins opening for The Melvins opening for The Melvins. The whole second set was just one looooong, trippy song. It was a lot of fun.

Appreciate it! I would love to have something like your setup in my bedroom, but wife and the space(primarily wife really) won't allow it

So I've made some upgrades to my setup since I started this thread, and took some pics with my current gear. Figured I'd share. still from the iPhone.

450

The Pioneer BDP-23FD was replaced with a Panasonic BDT310, used primarily for 3D viewing. Since my AVR doesn't support 3D, I have the sub HDMI out connected to the AVR, and the main HDMI connected directly to the display. Cabling used here is Audioquest Chocolate HDMI (SUB HDMI > TV) and Audioquest Forest (main HDMI >TV). The Panasonic player looks a little funny sitting atop the big hulking Sony player, which is about the equivalent of five of the Panasonics put together, both in height and weight.

450

450

Sold my previous Panasonic PDP and replaced it with a 55" VT50. Simply one of the best flat panels I've ever seen. Love it in 2D and 3D. Planning on getting it calibrated sometime this year.

450

Most recent addition: Since I listen to most of my music through my Apple TV now, I became curious to see if I could find a low-cost solution to to improve the sound quality of my music files, which range from 192kbps to Apple Lossless files. The Audioengine D1 DAC does the trick wonderfully, but it makes me wonder what a better DAC would do to my music. (I smell a future upgrade rolleyes.gif )

So that's my setup as it stands currently. As far as future upgrades go, I would love to get a new AVR with 3D passthrough, especially since I'm out of HDMI ports on my current AVR. Would love to get a Marantz or Denon since it seems to be the general consensus that higher-tier Audyssey suites provide a better result my Pioneer's MCACC Advanced. On the other hand, I've also been considering selling all my speakers and reverting to a 2-channel setup (while keeping my sub). This is a small room and while I love having surround, I think I may find as much enjoyment (if not more) in a great pair of stereo speakers. I really loved the sound of the Sonus Faber Liuto monitors, and as far as floorstanders go I really enjoyed the Monitor Silver RX8s....both strong contenders for justification of a stereo-only configuration cool.gif

Anyway, thanks for looking! Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated.

Looks great! How do find the dialog with the center speaker off center? I have 3 panny blu ray players and have been very pleased with them. JT

Thanks! The Center sounds fine the majority of the time, and the dialog usually sounds centered. Once in a while it sounds a bit "off," but it really hasn't bothered me too much.

I have similar setup and in the beginning it was alittle bothersome, but I don't notice the center position that much either. I had the Pioneer VSX- 80 and now have a Denon AVR-4310 and definatly hear a difference between the two units. I perfer the Audyssey to the MCACC. Though it is a personal choice for each user.
