Trials Evolution - Page 3

Added a few of you on my FL. I have to say that I have played this game more in the first week of release than any other game in my XBL game stash. Had a hard time with the really long course at the end of the medium run. Started with a G. I finished with 55 faults

I didn't play this all weekend.

How do you watch others' replays? I didn't realize you could do this either. I know you could in Trials HD, but when I was playing that last week to gear up for Evolution, I couldn't remember/figure out how to do it in the first game.

Hit Y button at stage selection screen to enter the leaderboard screen. At the leaderboard screen, you can watch individual replays and select specific ghosts (dots, really) to race against. It can be helpful.

But I also find that I have better luck finding my own routes rather than getting locked into another person's. Since I'm trying to beat their time (not match it), I usually have to find a different/better route.

I really can't believe how much quality and content is here. Just shows how bloated the rest of the games market is (especially for games in the $60 range).

My leaderboard list is getting nasty. Lots of action at the top! I haven't even gotten to the hard or extreme courses yet. I keep getting sucked into keeping my easy and medium times at the top of the boards. There's one fool in particular who keeps trumping me.

Gigatrack. And the first time I played I couldn't believe it kept going on and on. Amazingly only had 9 faults the first time and haven't been able to beat it since.

I think I had best score on 90% of levels on Trials HD, but some of you have stepped up your game this go round. It's hard shaving off seconds on the easy and medium levels. I think I'm best at medium-hard and hard levels, but not everyone is as far as me so it's hard to tell.

I have some decent hard level times, too(I think). I'm pretty obsessed with getting a solid time and no faults, even when the gold medal doesn't require 0 faults.

Same here.

I like the levels where it's a little tough to get 0 faults, but also quick and fun (sometimes infuriating).

I'm not too great at the early levels that are just 30 second speed races.

Gigatrack, spent a good 30 minutes on that track then rage quit. Lord almighty, so frustrating.

It seems that the 250CC Evo bike is a lot harder to control..... do you guys use the Evo for the later tracks (Cutting Edge and Collateral Damage) or do you stick with the 450cc bike?

I guess I need more practice, because the Cutting edge tracks are damn near all rage quits....., can't imagine what the Death Valley tracks are like.

I had a really good time going on Gigatrack and had about a 1/4 of the track left with zero crashes. I flipped over backwards and then hit the wrong button and was taken back to the start Good thing no young ones were around to hear what happened next.

Having a really good time playing. Chasing some of the times is both fun and very frustrating.

I use the Phoenix trials bike for basically every track, unless it's a very fast and smooth track that requires higher speed from the Scorpion. Although switching back and forth sometimes forces me to find the limits of each bike and improves my time.

One complaint is I wish they had more selection of bikes that are usable, as opposed to the same two usable bikes they had in the previous version. Or maybe tweaking settings like damping ratios and spring stiffness.

I'm having a really rough time with the extreme tracks. I've completed a couple and each have taken me well over 100 faults. I think one was over 250.

That being said, I love the 450 cc bike for all of the levels that require a lot of climbing and technical maneuvers. The extreme tracks, though, seem like they can't be completed without the 250cc, because you can't make some of those jumps without a run up with the 450.

I'm still frustrated that my times from the first day weren't recorded, I need to go back and redo those. HondeBoyMan seems to be my biggest competition in friends leaderborads right now. Funny thing is, I have no idea who he is or where I met him. Kind of thinking it may have been on here in one of the BF threads or something.

Feel free to add me if anyone wants more competition. I could use a little spurring on myself.

Edit: Just noticed that he (ahartig) is posting in this thread.

I'm thinking I got your ID form the BF3 thread, as I added alot of people from that thread when BF3 came out. If you ad everyone on this thread, you will have much better competition then my times, especially on the harder tracks.

I'm going to have to go back through this thread and add some of you that I missed.

I stick almost exclusively to the 450cc bike. The Evo is just too off balance, but I haven't dug into the slower, more methodical courses yet, so that may change.

It's like spinning plates trying to stay on top. I totally forgot about the minigame leaderboards. I still can't get gold (let alone top spot) on the one with the ball in the round basket on top of your bike. There's so much in this game.

Yes been playing this since it came out and can't stop. But seeing the scores of your friends keeps me up at 1am trying to get only a few seconds more after a few hours lol

Trials Evolution is a lot more pressure, seeing all your friends' dots moving across the screen. I think that's why multiplayer is stressful too.

That's why I turned off all the ghosts at first, too annoying. Now that I've beat most stages I've gone back and turned on the ghost of my next fastest competitor.

absolutely loving this game. I'm sure I'm nowhere near half of you guys on the leaderboards, but if you are looking to add more leaderboard comparisons, go ahead and add me. GT: Chad473.

Now that I've started chipping away at the Hard and Extreme courses, I take back what I said above. You pretty much have to use the Evo for the harder courses. Up through medium, the Scorpion is the best choice (not a lot of accelerating or fast balance shifts), but you need the Evo's added speed from a standstill and quick precision later.

I leave it on because competition is also about pressure. That's what separates Kobe from LeBron. It's easier to perform well when nobody is around. It's how you perform next to people that separates the wheat from the chaff (are there any more cliches I can say???).

The better solution is just to try to beat everyone. Much more satisfying way to get rid of those annoying white dots. Of course, then the pesky things keep coming back...

I believe my standing as highest ranking member on the global leaderboard shows my method is somewhat effective.

Yeah, I don't think anyone is going to beat my score on Icarus Factor. 752 m.

Is it just me, or is Sunset Stripped a real pain in the ass to get gold? Seems out of place in the second tier. Just rage quit after getting within .16sec

Sure thing. Looks like I'm on top of it, though, so you might want to check your internet connection.

Either there's some trick I'm missing, or you have some damn fast fingers. I'm maxing out just under 390m.

Like most Trials levels, a lot of it comes down to throttle control. The last few jumps can be tricky. Figuring out when to gun it and when to back off is important. When are you losing your pace and what bike are you using?

I really need to check replays of that one I guess. I feel like I'm running it mostly clean but I'm probably losing a bit of time at the last water jump through the end. Just seems quite a bit less forgiving than anything else in that category for a gold run

Pretty sure I've been using the scorpion on that one but not positive.

That dang Gigatrack was annoying, after about 10 minutes I just started crashing for the fun of it. I was honestly sitting there thinking the dev's were just playing a cruel joke on us after about 15 minutes, figuring it was a never ending track and the person that actually kept going the longest would end up at the top of the leader board. Thankfully at about 20 minutes there was an end in sight, it was such a relief.

Out of 25+ LIVE friends only 2 are playing this, kind of surprised but then I guess it is pretty new. Then again DaverJ always gives me something to shoot for, my arthritic hands just seem to get worse each year and now I can add carpal tunnel and a massive new dose of Trials frustration to the mix.

There are more than enough gamertags in this thread to beef up your leaderboard!

And, yeah, out of the 10-15 friends or so on my Trials leaderboard, only 1 has managed to get the gold on Gigatrack. Not sure why RedLynx bothers with the crash limits because if you crash just once, you probably lose too much time to finish below the gold level cutoff anyway.

And, man, I swear those last three extreme courses are tougher than any of the courses from Trials HD. It'll be a while before I can make it through those without hitting the crash/time limits.

I just started in the minigames and got this on my 3rd try, but it won't let me know any farther.

All those days of track and field have paid off.
