PS3 Blu-Ray Data Utility Folder Deletion Question

Hi, I have a rather dumb question:
I went to delete the Blu-Ray Data Utility folder and it would say it deleted but it would still be there. It emptied The folder though which is pretty much all I wanted. Anyway, I'm just concerned that by "deleting" it, my PS3 may be adversely effected. I have had issues with settings before so I'm just wondering if "deleting" it would mess up some of my settings or hurt the PS3. I probably sound crazy, but I'd really like to have my mind put to ease or fix something if need be.

for someone who just deleted a whole folder without looking in it first you sure do worry a lot post-mortum.

I don't think there is anything of value stored in there anyway. All it is is the various blu-ray disc settings and data for each individual blu ray. I would hope sony wouldn't let you delete critical data that easily.

When I used to have netflix, that folder would be full of data files from movies I had watched... it freed up a decent amount of space deleting it.

You have a point. I worry a lot after I do something. But it shouldn't of hurt or changed anything, correct?

I think what you lose is the Resume position for movies you've played and BD-Live data.

You also lose any bookmarks set for your Blurays (if you use that feature).

If download movie trailers from BD Live for local viewing, those will get deleted.

If you created login/password to certain movie studio BD Live sites, they are also stored in the folder.

It is safe to delete everything in the BD folder since the data are installed from BD Live enabled movies, data from BD Live sites, trailers if stored on hard drive, etc. Technically, BD Folder is a garbage collector.

That's one design flaw with BD Live using storage. It doesn't have any ability to do garbage clean up. It's up to the user to do garbage cleaning.

Thanks to this thread I deleted almost half a gig's worth of needless data that accumulated just since last summer in the BD data folder (all NF rentals).
