I need a new receiver in the $300 to $500 range

My old Sony htib receiver has gotten to the point of only giving me sound from some of the speakers some of the time. So its time for a new one.

I would like to stay within $300 to the $500 range.
The speakers it will be driving are fronts SM122's surrounds SM62's the center is still the speaker from the kit as well as the powered sub atm.

It can be 5.1 or 7.1 and I am open to all brands.

i called j n r today and i bought the denon 1712 for $310

I would look into the Onkyo tx-nr609 from accessories4less.com as it is one of the best values to be had. Do some searching for reviews on it.

Agreed 100 percent best bang for your buck for performance reliability and specs. . I recommend the htrc 360/370 or nr609. I have the 360 its marvelous, the best receiver I've owned yet, plus it has a built in network. Windows 7 compatible, good if you run a PC to it

Those onkyos seem to have THX thats a great plus
