Would anyone be willing to burn this project for someone who doesn't own a Bluray burner? I would love to have this disc. I would e willing to cover the cost of the disc and postage. I can D/L and print the cover art myself.

The whole point is that you don't need one:

"This project is geared to have HD material, audio and video, in a regular DVD that can be played on a Blu-Ray player. Due to size constraints the media has been chosen to be DVD-DL. The final project consists of 1 top menu and 5 segments; Bass, animation, visual, surround and music, where each segments has 8 clips. When I say final project I mean a full Blu-Ray 50gig disc, while in the interim, there will be a segment on its own that will fit into a DVD-DL disc."

3rd Try: Installed multiAVCHD. Dragged the default Bass disc BDMV folder. Result: the Estimated output is 26.686 GB! Won't fit onto a DVD+DL disc.

I really want to get this disc working on my ps3 with all the menu's and without the audio loss. Any help is appreciated.

I believe that the "Estimated ouput" that MultiAVCHD is refering to is not the output size but the needed free space to process the files. The output file(s) will actually be the same size as the original file, so go ahead and process it.

If you want 100% flawless playback on the PS3 the best way is by using a flash/external drive and using MultiAVCHD to output for external drive. The only drawback is that you lose the pop-up menu, but you have perfect playback. Now a days an 8GB flash drive is less than $5.00

Weird. The first time I tried to re-author it ended up being 22gb. Second try now it is able to fit on a DVD-DL. Thanks! Burning now. Hopefully it works.

I need some help with burning the disc please...
I have downloaded the torrent through u-torrent and extraced to a folder on my desktop
The file is 38 GB with 58 parts,340files and 16 folders.(the extraction took almost 7 hours)
I opened image burn and dropped in the 2 folders BDMV and Certificate.
I set up image burn for UDF and 2.5 and hit the "burn" button.
It looked like it was working but when I checked back later there was a message there that said
"cyclic reduncancy check" and the process had stopped.
I think I have made a coaster !

What have I done wrong?

I did some research on this one and it shows two main results for this error. Usually the most common thing is a problem reading from the harddrive, it is recommended to run scan disk or an utility like this to correct bad sectors etc. The next suspected fault is cheep media.

My recommendation for this would be first to run the hardrive scan, correct any error if any and then burn with out verifying (verify box un-checked) and at lower speed. I always burn at 2X.

Not an HTPC user, but I do all the testing for the discs on the computer. As far as I know, and those that use HTPCs please jump in, WMC or VLC can not play Blu-rays. They can play the individual m2ts files but not a bluray with menus. Also, in order for these programs to play correctly you would have to have the necessary audio and video codecs.

The easy way to play any video and audio file is to install Total Media Theater of PowerDVD, either of these programs will play Bluray disc, from the harddrive or the player and include all the codecs that are needed.

As far as VLC, the last time I read anything on it there was a version working on playing BDs, not sure if the latest version actually does or not, since I installed TMT that is pretty much all I use.

I was a little concerned about the 7 hour extraction....

The unpacking seems extremely slow unless its connecting at USB 1.0 speeds. Don't have the details on the number of files and folders with me but that seems correct.
Under normal circumstances the unpacking should be around 1 hour (depending on your CPU, more or less) but not 7 hours.

This sounds unbelievably slow, is your computer a newer PC? Maybe multicore CPU? I unzipped and burned it on my Intel i7-950 quad core in about 25 minutes and that PC is almost 3 years old. If your PC is old that may be part of the problem.

No. Each of the BD9 discs is one "chapter" of the BD50. So you can burn each section onto one DVD-DL (5 total) or burn the whole thing onto one BD-DL. 

 

You can download each individual chapter (starting in post 2), or get the whole thing where you see this link: Reference_Links_Complete.zip.txt and follow the directions in post 2 and elsewhere.

 

For the whole thing, you'll want "Reference_Links_Complete/RAR_Reference_BD50.torrent" that you'll see after unzipping.

So I deleted my folder and re-extracted the files form the torrent and burned to a 50 Gb disc and it works perfectly.

All I can say is WOW biggrin.gif

This is one great disc. Thanks SuperLeo and anyone who contributed to this project

Which is why I won't give you too much of a hard time about not bothering to read the directions and other posts. wink.gif

This is the important info you overlooked in post 2:

"The link is zipped file that needs to be un-zipped first. The zip file is also password protected. The password to un-zipped the file is "AVSFORUM" (with out the quotes of course).  This file includes ALL the links for ALL the discs."

So, after unzipping, you take the link you want and put it in the torrent app of your choice.

Downloading full BD50 torrent now and will seed. A few questions though:

1 - Now that XBMC supports full HD audio, can I just play from there?

2 - I don't have a Blu-Ray burner. Can I pay someone just for the service and disc or what is the best way to get this to physical media?

Without a burner, the idea is to download the 5 "segments," each of which fits on a DL BD and *usually* plays in a BD player as an AVCHD.

Otherwise, just use your HTPC.

You have to rename the file by removing the "txt" extension, then unzip and it will show the torrent files for all links.
