Anyone build their own subs?

So I have this...

Don't know a whole lot about it, it has a single 4 ohm coil (reads 4.9 ohm on my DMM) and it's a 15 inch prototype from TC Sounds back a few years ago. For those who built their own subs... was it worth the time and did it sound better than expected?

Looks like a robust driver. TC sounds makes good stuff. I recommend posting this on the DIY subforum. Being that its a prototype it may end up being tough to track down its' specs and size a box for it as well as powering the thing accurately.
