How come a 55in tv is really a 54in?

the lcd and leds tv are really not 55inches, but 54inches, but when it comes to the new plasma, its really 55iches. whats going on?

It's just the way panels are made and even plasmas will have slight variations in diagonal measurement between manufacturers. Manufacturers are allowed to round for screen size and are considered in that screen size "class". So a 55" tv will have diagonal measurements anywhere from 54.5"-55.4" and will be considered 55" class. I believe for legality issues they do have to put the exact measurements in the specs, but let's be realistic 1" is not a noticeable difference.

Whatever the reason maybe it's out of your control. Pick to buy plasma only I suppose.
