RCA to XLR or T/S?

Last question before I purchase all my parts for my subwoofer build. As the title suggests RCA to XLR or T/S? Any benefits or downsides to either cables? I have an Onkyo RC260 with two sub preouts. I plan on connecting them to an iNuke NU1000DSP.

These are what I am looking at:

RCA to T/S

or

RCA to XLR X2

I'll be ordering everything here in a few weeks. I'll be posting pics of the build progress. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for helping me and informing me on my first DIY sub.

Either works fine. I have used both configs with an EP4000.

No way! Onkyos tend to have high output voltage on their preouts already.

Does anybody have the input sensitivity spec for the amp? It shouldn't be too tough to figure out if your receiver has enough voltage to drive it to full power. All you need is that spec and a multimeter.

Haven't there been a few batches of Monoprice RCA->XLR cables that were mis-wired?

Dunno if they've fixed them, but for that reason alone I'd look at something else. Or even just get a phone-plug adapter for an RCA wire you already have.

Some batches of MP's 6 ft. RCA>XLR cables were wired incorrectly last summer. However, it may still be the best option if you know how to use a VOM and soldering iron.....especially if XLR pin 1 needs to be isolated from the signal chain. It's difficult to buy the materials for what they sell them assembled.

I remember reading something about this. Apparently there is a setting in the amp to adjust the sensitivity. I could be wrong on this.

I also have been hearing the XLR cables have been bad from mono. I was planing on going with the RCA to T/S cable. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be sacrificing anything by going with one over the other.

RCA is single-ended so you won't have balanced (XLR or TRS) anyway. T/S is probably cheaper and easier, and no worries about geographic pin-out differences on the XLRs.

I think it is easier and cheaper to buy RCA to XLR adapters and use your existing RCA cables.

I'm looking at this amp too, to power 2 boxed subs for ht. What do you use to connect to this amps speaker outs to the subs speaker connections. I'm using binding posts on the sub boxes....

You'd use speakon cables. I haven't started the build but I will be using Speakon Neutrik connection on the sub box http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=092-059. I don't know if it would be safe or not, maybe someone else can chime in, but I think it would be possible to run two wires from the back of the Neutrik connector to your binding posts.
