LED Power Notifications

Hi!

I'm going to be moving my av receiver, dtv receiver, and HTPC downstairs in the basement for a cleaner install. This is going to include a long HDMI cable and a xantech remote repeater.

I was wondering if anybody has seen or uses some sort of notification so they know if a component is on or off. For example, sometimes my HTPC doesn't turn on automatically, and right now, I can look at the device and see if the power light is on or if it's in standby mode. Same with the dtv receiver. My idea is to have some sort of LED or other notification that lets me know if the device is on or off.

Thanks!

So I recently asked this question and...

was told, IT SHOULD WORK!

Call me skeptical.

Thanks for the response. I ended up getting this...

It's the...

Xantech ML85K LCD/CFL Proof Micro Link IR Receiver

I haven't installed it yet, but I have a good feeling it will work. Many people have said good things about it.

I haven't seen anything that I had in mind, but after browsing the forum for a few days, I think I have an idea. I think I can get a smart power strip that autoswitches the outlet when power is turned on by the receiver. I can run a LED up to the viewing area to notify the users if the device is on or not.

I don't think I'll do that just yet though, I think I might set everything up and see how it works. It would just be reassuring if I could see that the receiver is really off so it's not sucking power all the time.
