DAC with headphone amp for Apple Tv

Hi, I would like to set-up my apple tv's optical output into a DAC to input into my AV receiver. Ive been researching DAC's and have found that some are combined with headphone amp's which I wouldn't mind having. Would getting a DAC combined with a headphone amp still output accurate sound to my receiver? Or would the built in headphone amp somehow interfere with my AV receiver's amp and cause problems?

Just connect optical cable into your receiver. You do not need external DAC.

Ok. I was under the impression that the DAC would improve sound quality. This better sound quality combined with the addition of a headphone amp is an interesting proposition to me. So I would still like to know if this is a possible setup to perform.

I understand now that the AV receiver has an internal DAC so using the optical cable should be good enough. Thank you.
