For the curious ones, I checked out the Energy Bookshelfs vs. the surround ones
Energy Connoisseur Surround Bookshelf Speaker (CR-10)
Energy Connoisseur Bookshelf Speakers (CB-20)
I found the bookshelfs much cleaner sound with a greater range - sound was richer, especially the base. my only concern is the mounting.
Currently, I have the wiring set up for ceiling mount. Would you recommend a level shelf just below the ceiling or down firing mount?
I can always fish the wires to more of a wall mount - but I feel my wife wouldn't like it very much.
Recommendations?
Thanks.

I apologize if it's been mention before but with your sub budget, I would check these guys out. They are an authorized SVS dealer and even though the price includes duties and stuff, at least there's no surprises.
There are a few good retailer that ship anywhere in Canada and they have premium stuff. These guys, and also, these guys and these guys. Also, check out Axiom, they are based here and are an ID speaker company so you save the middle man.
