What's a good 36" - 42" TV that's thin, has a small bezel, and can be mounted close to the wall for that picture frame look? Primary purpose is to display photo slideshows, so built-in SD/USB ports, DLNA network support, and/or Internet streaming would be good. But we can also just attach a Roku/Apple TV or some other small set-top box.
The thinnest fixed-mount wall brackets or the cord-and-disc systems (a la Samsung WMN2000 or generics) only protrude 0.5" - 0.6" from the wall, so the TV should have side-facing power/input jacks, or rear-facing ones that can use flat right-angled cables or something.
Wife also wants minimal bezel, but I think the manufacturers only reserve the thinnest bezels for 46" and larger sizes?
She also wants a matte non-reflective screen and good color accuracy and uniformity (starting with an IPS panel perhaps?). Would an edge-lit LED model sacrifice too much image quality at the expense of thinness?
P.S. Wife was also considering mounting the TV in portrait orientation to match the majority of her photos. Is there a rotate-able TV/monitor wall mount that's also only half an inch thick?
