-------------
My main HTPC just turned six. I'm on my third GPU, but the heart remains an Intel P4 3.2 GHz single core on an Abit AW8-MAX board. Figured I'd have to move to a Sandybridge for 3D, but nope -- handles it just fine! So other then adding an SSD in the near future, I'm not sure what the true answer for #15 is going to be.

One of my HTPCs is an old P4 I originally bought about ten years ago. A couple years ago I got a new video card for it and recycled it as a bedroom HTPC. I think we've reached the point where "HTPC duties" are relatively lightweight compared to current hardware capabilities, so it's very hard to know if/when they will need to be upgraded without knowing what the future will bring. I remember always looking forward to the improvements that new technologies brought (like DD, HD, etc.), but we've actually reached the point where I'm fairly satisfied with everything... I feel that for the most part, it's "good enough" that I'm not jonesing for the next big thing. Or maybe I'm just getting older. The only thing I'm really looking forward to now is huge, cheap, solid state drives (the 20+ spinning disks taking up the entire corner of a room and consuming $15-$20/month of electricity seems very low tech to me), and the software progressing to a point where getting everything working well in an HTPC is easy, not magic.
