2 bookshelf speakers under $300

I'm looking for a pair of bookshelf speakers under $300. Sound quality and reliability are at the top of my list.

I'm in Canada, so my choices are very limited. The only brands I know of that I can get are SVS, Polk, Paradigm, Energy, Martin Logan and PSB.

The speakers will be used to listen to classical and pop music. I don't really care about bass or high volume as I listen quietly (around 70dB max)

I'm currently looking at the SVS SBS-02 for $259. I've read some fantastic reviews of the STS-02, which is just the floorstanding version of the SBS-02 with 3 more midrange drivers.

For $300, are there any better speakers that can be bought in Canada that are better than the SVS?

Oh right the speakers MUST be new. I will not consider used speakers.

If not, what are the cheapest B&M speakers that are better? I'll try to watch out for a deal for them.

I've seen quite a few positive reviews of the Cambridge S30 bookshelves on here. I'd suggest doing a forum search and seeing what people have had to say on them. Or maybe an owner will chime in here.

The PSB Alpha B1 speaker is IMO by far the best for the type of listening you want to do.

I understand that many Canadian dealers can discount PSB speakers, since they are a Canadian firm.

The Paradigm Atom Monitor v.6 would be my second choice.

The sound quality of the other speakers you list is not equal to these two in models that sell for under $300 IMO.

Moniitor Audio has dealers in Canada, but you would have to go to their website and enter your postal code to see where they are. The Monitor Audio M1 and M2 are worth consideration. Stereo Plus Canada carries them online.
