Harman Kardon SB 30

Thanks for posting that spec sheet,,,, been waiting for this bar ever since it was anounced at CES last month.

I plan on doing a side by side comparison of the SB30 with my Bose 1SR soundbar.

Now we just need a release date for the HK SB30.

Thanks for posting... I am very interested in purchasing once it is released.

end of march - I called and that was what I was told.

Are there any pre-reviews or first impressions of the HK? This soundbar looks interesting, as does the Atlantic Technology H-PAS soundbar.

now on amazon @ 900 list.i am hope someone in the know gets the run down soon.i am about ready to go with ysp 2200 @ 625

Why is it $900? It's been stated that it will be $800.

Seems to be listed as out of stock and not available,,, code for,, they dont have it yet.

Hard to tell since the SB30 has not been released or reviewed yet,,,,, but Harman Kardon is pimpin the SB30 like its the best soundbar ever invented,,, we shall see if it's BS or not.

yes HK pimp it like its the best in their product line, is it better than other brands out here? no HDMI input, specs didn't say it does HD audio. so what so impressive?

Actually its out of stock in ALL places, and no reviews because it is out of stock,,, thats code for "it does not exist yet".

All soundbars do not need to have HDMI or do HD audio,,, my Bose 1SR bar does not have HDMI or do HD audio and it sounds amazing,,, its one of the best sounding bars I have EVER owned,,, and I have owned more soundbars over the years that I can even count or remember.

On the flip side there are bars out in the wild that do have HDMI and do HD audio and some of those bars sound like total crap.

Sorry to put you on the spot...but would the vht215 fall into this category? Also, do you know if the tv25 from BA would sound better?

I demo'ed the VHT215 at home,,, the TV25 I have only in-store experience with,,,,, the Vizio does sound good and I was impressed with it, so I would not say it was one of the bars that suck even with HDMI's.

I was not quite clear on your question so I hope that was the answer you were looking for.

looks like HK has the new soundbar listed at a $100 off and they haven't even sold any? can hardly wait to hear Davyo's review...can you say pre-order.

Might not be able to pre-order the SB30 right away,, I just did the pre-order on that damm "new iPad",,,,, gota keep an eye on my piggy bank.

i am new today to this site. so im excited in learning..i just got a deal on a pair of Polk RTA 15 TL speakers and a CSi 40 center speaker..he also gave me a Harman Kardon DPR 1001 for a great price. someone i know that didnt need them....question is....i have a HK avr130 that is mint also and works very well..Which one should i use for these big speakers..i will be using Paradigm mini mk3's for rears and a subwoofer..the dpr looks thinner n not as heavy..dont know much about them..2 remotes..one VERY BIG one. then a very small one....any suggestions..i thank you..user name is BOSTON the rock group and 1450 is my motorcycle size. looking forward to learning more..i also own other HK products but i have issues in learning field..thank you

I'm sure the Piggy is eager to know how effective the surround effects are
on the SB30. Piggies love anything 5.1 and above.

I'm sure the big bad wolf wouldn't come to the door if you ordered it.

I'm interested in getting this bar because our TV sits in the corner of an "open floor plan" room with a kitchen on one end of the room. The press release for this SB sounds like it was designed with our house in mind, and I'd like a SB that can approximate 5.1 sound.

Having never had a SB before, I'm curious what would be the best strategy for hooking up this one given its spec'd inputs. My cable box has coax and optical digital output, and we currently have a BD player with HDMI into the TV + additional audio outputs. For cable channels (like sports) and blu-ray discs, I should be able to get the full 5.1 sound to the SB. But what about content that is streamed through my smart TV? I can also stream content through the BD player (although it is notorious for dropping the wireless signal). Any chance of getting the full sound track to the SB for streamed content?

I had a talk with someone from Harman Kardon, and he informed me that some SB30s will be in the hands of reviewers in a couple of weeks. From that point, it's up to the vagaries of publishing when the reviews will hit.

As the SB30s are much more sophisticated than the SB16s, it's probable that their virtual surround mode will be much better.

Well, there may be other reviewers out there, but for those of us on this thread there is only ONE reviewer we wait for and that's Davyo. The man has not found a soundbar he could resist. It's only a matter of time.
