Need 10-12" Sub recommendation

Hi, i am new to subwoofer. I am looking one for my 3mx4m room. Currently using MA GX300 front. B&W685 surround.

I am considering the below:
Monitor Audio RXW12 (I can get slight cheaper than Rythmik F12)
Rythmik F12 (is F12SE only the finish different?)
JL Audio F110 (But too expensive, price double of Rythmik F12)
HSU Reseach VTF2-MK4 (Feel too big in the room), ULS-15 (The wireless feature is it good?)
SVS SB12-NSD

Your opinion will be appreciated.

Mostly HT, if music normally 2 channel only. the MA GX300 give me quite sufficient bass. So do I still need a very musical sub?

On a more serious note, could you consider upsizing to something like this SVS?

This will give you satisfying low end for HT with real useful in-room extension to below 20hz.

Agreed. For mostly HT? The SVS PB12-NSD, definitely. It'll kick ass. You won't regret it

wah... it almost same size as the VTF3 MK4... difficult to place in such small room..

if possible keep within 16". but those 15" sub all close to 20"

Yes. 15" subs are not going to fit in 16" width

The 12" subs that most people recommend for HT use are going to be deeper and higher than 16", but there are some that are no more than 16" wide. The VTF-2 MK4 that you mentioned, and also the Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus and Epik Legend.

If I have to choose off the list in the OP, for mostly home theater I'd choose the SVS SB12-NSD or Rythmik F12. If you can go larger the Epik Empire and SVS PB12-NSD should rock, not to mention the Outlaw LFM-1 EX.

if size is a limiting factor, but you are looking for more base - have you tried looking at sealed subs?

For such a small room a VTF-1 or VTF-2 or an LFM-1 EX would me my choice. All downfiring subs.

I went to listen few sub today,
SVS SB-12NSD - Demo using Ironman 2 but not so impressive, dont feel hit hard and go low.
M&K SB1250 - Demo using Avatar, Feel the sub very fast. But local mark up the price high.
MA RXW12 - Demo using War of the world, stealth. Demo not using good setup. Feel like of not enough punch.
JLAudio F113 - They only demo F113, with Transformer 2, this beast really hit very hard and fast.
Crystal Audio THX-10SUB - Demo using Transformer 2, after listen to F113, really feel this sub no kick. lol.

Subwoofers, like speakers, should be demoed in the same room using the same gear and movies/music. Were all of the subwoofers you heard set up at the same place and in the same location in the room? I assume not, and if I'm correct then that wasn't an apples to apples comparison. The best thing to do would be to ask for a weekend in-home audition from any subwoofers found at local dealers near you (such as the Fathom F113), then maybe order one of the Internet Direct subs you're interested in (provided they offer a 30-day return policy) and compare apples to apples. You could time it around the arrival of the ID sub, then simply return the loser. It might cost you some shipping expenses, but it'll be worth knowing you purchased the best subwoofer.

Just my $0.02

P.S. Always demo with the same material. Take Tron (new one) and War Of The Worlds and hit 'em hard. Using varying material is pretty much useless.

I use to turn off my sealed M&K subwoofer when critically listening to 2 channel audio, this all changed when I got my Rythmik subwoofer, now its never off and could not listen to audio without it

There is a very large difference in prices with those subs.

I am thinking of getting used rythmik F12SE or just order a new HSU ULS-15. Decision decision...

By the way, can i place a sub very near the wall?

I have bought a rythmik F12SE. Now only basic setup, test with midnight mode from Receiver already feel rumble in my room. Lol.
Lucky didnt go for 15". This already look quite big and heavy to me.

Do you think upgrade from rythmik F12SE to JL Audio F112 any improvement?

I am using Onkyo NR5010 now. Already have Audessy XT32 with sub EQ.
