I think everyone needs to read the Alan Parsons interview in the CE Pro & Electronic forum. He is one of my idols and makes some very good points.

How could I not love a guy who is photographed with my daily-driver digital console - a Yamaha 02R96?

He mostly makes perfect sense. He's utterly right about the videos on YouTube lacking audio fidelity. Youtube audio so bad that people have been known to make them sound appreciably better by overlaying their native soundtrack with a lip-synched MP3. I believe this is actually per-plan, the basic idea is to put something up that is easy to improve on by spending a little money.

It was a great interview and an easy read. For me, it's not that he said anything most ppl here didn't know, but it's who said it that made it interesting.

Yup. At first I had no idea who he was when I saw him (hey... I'm 26) but then they announced that Alan Parsons was going to do a talk and play some of his work I was like, "Omg, sweet!". He walked out after the first half of the DTS demo once his material was over but I would have if I got the chance to ask him some stuff. No idea how many 'shows' he goes to but he seemed to be doing all the demos at DTS this January at CES.
