They don't have the price match guarantee after the fact with 3rd party sellers

Ouch, sorry to hear that...I didn't realize it wasn't sold by Amazon.

So, quick question(s).

1. Fry's will price match Sears, right?
2. Will Costco will sell a warranty on a TV sold by Fry's that's pricematched by Sears?

Yeah and the silly thing is they have a 30 day free return guarantee so I guess I could be a jerk and buy the Sears one and return the Amazon one if I wanted to.

1. Yes, as far as I know. Last time I was in there they said they would even price match Amazon, which really surprised me. They would not price match Sams/Costco, though.

2. Definitely yes.

Thanks for the heads up. I may have to go check this out tonight. My local Sears has 4 in stock.

Just to confirm, Amazon won't price match Sears on this deal, correct? What about before the fact with 3rd party sellers? I also see that Sears is offering another 5% off if you use a Sears Credit Card. $899 x 5% = $44.95. $899 - $44.95 = $854.05 + tax.

Sold! I was bummed missing the deal on the 60" but this seems to be an overall better value. Delivery set for the 21st.

Looks like the deal has expired.

Bummer. I was going to pick one up today.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was totally bummed about Best Buy selling me the 50st40 online, then emailing me it was out of stock two hours later. (thus tying up $800 bucks on my charge card for 5 days -- not happy, but resolved about an hour ago). I called sears to see if they had one. They said they have a display they can sell me, but they couldn't get a new one. I looked online and I found one in Green Bay, which is being shipping NiB to the store here in Appleton.

Now I am a proud owner of a 55 inch (granted it arrives safely friday). It is slightly larger than my design plans, but the warm glow of electronic goodness and my original over-sized wall mount will make life all good.

i'm also broke for v-day today.... I think i'm going to have a hard time getting her to understand why I had to upgrade from a 42" plasma (which I sold to my boss), while she deals with a 10yr old 32" tube tv.

Either way, thank you for posting this deal. This site has helped me out so much!

We tried calling Sears today about the deal and it was a no-go.

Anyone think a deal for this TV under $1000 price point will happen again during the holiday weekend?
does anyone get the point of these one day super secret non advertised sales? First BB had the $729 50ST30 which was bogus because no one actually had them anywhere....then there was this Sears gig which lasted like 20 hrs and then gonzo...I mean if they were trying to clear inventory why are stores like BB and Sears being so shady with the deals?

Maybe they do these 24 hour fire sales "under the radar" for a reason. When best buy did this (and burnt me), they only had a handful left. I know these tv's are pretty scarce, so I don't see these tv's being advertised in the sunday flier. How many of us just on this forum call around to the store? Put a sunday ad into the works and you will have tons more. This is all positive thinking and giving the retailer the credit, but this is my take on it.

Inventory gets lost -- then found. Maybe they are finding the last of the model year and quietly clearancing them out. These deals could be regional, but with the internet, we all hammer the site, they still can ship nationwide.

I know from past experience that they do full store/warehouse inventory checks, typically with 3rd parties. New items turn up, while other disappear. I worked in both environments, mistakes happen. The inventory is updated and then dealt in the manner they see fit.

I'll find out if my p55st30 shows up today (friday) in one piece. I placed my order the day I seen the deal at 8pm cdt. I called to confirm inventory, then told them I'm driving over right now with cash in hand.

I'm still very wary about this and doubt if I will sleep much. If my tv shows up tomorrow I will believe my theory; if not, I'm ready to grab my pitch fork, rally the villagers and storm the castle.

Sears had solid inventory of these at each local store I checked, versus when Best Buy had the 50st30 "on sale"
