So I moved into a house that has a home theater with a Harman Video Series II projector and it's been working fine until last night while watching tv I heard a sound that sounded like a CRT tv turning off and the picture went blank. I know very little about projectors but I think it could be a fuse and the guy who moved out left a bunch of fuses so I think they could be for the projector but I imagine there could also be a problem with the tube. When I turn it on now it still makes a sound as if you were to turn on a CRT tv but without the picture and all the lamps are off. I'd really appreciate any advice!

The Harman sets were terrible little projectors. Poorly made, only a few were sold. I've had two here, and I threw out both because I couldn't get parts and according to the previous owner of one of them, the same part failed time and time again (the power supply).

I'd pull it out, and research CRT projectors to perhaps put a different more reliable one in its place, or you can always go digital. I wouldn't spend any money on the one you have, sorry!

Haha ok thanks so much. Is it safe to assume that ANY digital projector would provide better picture quality than the harman?

No, not at all, very few digitals would give you the image quality of the Harman (if it was working, and with an HD signal), and none can match the black level and lack of motion artifacting.

Post your location, or post in my forum, to see if a fellow CRTer is close enough to show you a good projector setup. It's worth looking at.
