Vizio XVTXX3SV vs Samsung UNXXD6400?

OK...this is a struggle for me! I love the fact that the Vizio has full array LED..beautiful PQ. However, I just cannot stand its styling.

I fell in love with the Samsung UND6400 series...LOVE the styling! Will I be losing much in terms of the PQ to go with this Samsung?

Has 2011's technology of edge lit LEDs come close to 2010's full array?

I am torn....Do I wait for better technology to come out for 2012? Will the edge-lit LED tech have improved?

Also, anyone know if Vizio is restyling the full array sets?

Thanks!

The only new full array that they announced is for their ultrawide screen (21:9) XVT3D710CM. But it is only full array in the 71" size, the smaller 50" and 58" have edge lit backlight.

Is full array being phased out?

I don't think so, but it will probably never go into the "main" line until a new technology takes over (like oled or real led). A full array is more costly to make, which means that it will sell less for the manufacturers. Add the fact that 95% of the normal population will not see a difference in picture quality, it makes the price/quality ratio not very interesting for the manufacturers standpoint. The 5% that do care about the added quality are usually OK with having a premium price.

Also, it increase the thickness of the screen, making "cool" design less attractive, which is a big factor for the mass population.

Well...do you think that the newer edge-lit LEDs are coming closer in PQ to the full array? Do you think that 2012 will bring better PQ on the scene?

I have thought of waiting, but the newer models will cost more than the 2011s right now, won't they? I am thinking that I will have to wait until this time next year, or black Friday at the earliest to get better prices?
