So do you have a question? What is making the decision hard? Both are popular AVR's around these parts. The 2112 has AirPlay and I don't believe the 709 does. Have you searched the forum? I'm sure there are threads already posted with the exact topic. I don't have either of the two, but I'm sure if you be more specific, someone who owns these would help make your decision easier.

onkyo 709 for sure, way more features ,power and has preouts. the only thing the 2112 has over the 709 is airplay.

Crap! I started typing on my phone and didnt mean to actually start the thread yet. Embarrassing. Oh well, my main two concerns are reliability and lag time.

The 709 seems like a lot more AVR for the money however my perception is Denons have less problems than Onkyos.

Lag time between switching sources is another concern. Which AVR switches faster between HDMI sources?

If reliability and lag are equal then I will go with the Onkyo 709.

Thanks
