I am going to admit that I am a complete novice at home theater systems, so I am turning to the experts here...
I am wanting to upgrade my current speaker set up with some new ones. I currently have a Denon AVR-1611 receiver that I just recently purchased to replace the old Sony that died after 13 some odd years of use, but I am currently using the same Sony bookshelf speakers that came with it. At this time, I am really just looking at going with a 5.1 setup, but I am not apposed to doing a 7.1, the only requirements I would see for the 7.1 is the rear channels would most likely need to be an in-wall speaker.
My primary use will be for watching TV and movies, but the problem I see running into is the room size and layout. Our house is an open floor plan, so the living room area where the TV and furniture is, is directly connected to the kitchen and dining area with the total area being roughly 15' by 27'.
I would like to keep the budget under $1000, but could possibly go over by a bit.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance!
Budget has increased to $2000, new post at the bottom to reflect the updates.
