RPG Quests - what are some of your favorites?

Hey guys, I see (on here and elsewhere) people voice their complains about "Fetch this" quests, and "Kill X amount of these" quests, or "Fedex" quests... and I understand how they can get a bit monotonous.

My question is, strictly from a conversational standpoint, "What are some unique rewarding quests you've done?"

For me, I remember a quest in Oblivion for the Dark Brotherhood where I had to be locked in a mansion with a group of people, and I had to kill each other, without any of them seeing it happen. So eventually it was just me and one other person left and they realized I was the murderer. Now THAT was a unique Quest!! Loved it!

What quests have you done that you remember and were fun?

Ya, the Megaton quest was great and I wouldn't have remembered it.

While not quite a quest, heading up the stairs in Demon's Souls to fight the Old Monk always felt awesome to me once I knew a player was summoned to be the Old Monk.

I just finished the "Return to Ostegar" quest in DAO.

It was cool because you return to the field of battle and see the dead king crucified-like naked. You also get to fight the re-animated creature that killed the king.

I always liked the FF quests which you had to go find some obscure item like getting the last Materia for the final summon spell...

Perhaps one of my favorite battle quests was fighting the Cacture character too.

I'll go back even further. I remember playing the original Final Fantasy on the NES and going on a quest to find the Floater which allowed you to raise the airship. I remember how excited I was to "fetch" this item because I knew it would open up the rest of the world to explore.

Another quest I always enjoyed was hunting down the "ultimate" weapons.

While not a ps3 game the most rewarding (and frustrating) and truly awesome was the rogue dagger epic quest in everquest and yes it took me months and alot of help from others.

http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=765

Doesnt look like much on paper but involved rare drops from rare spawns and finally 40 of your best friends to help you take down the end boss. Sneaking into one of the most dangerous zones the plane of hate(at the time) by yourself to get a book of souls and it was like a 2 or 3 day spawn was truly terrifying. A few pieces were trableable and obtainable if you were rich which helped some but man once it was finally done the prize was worth it and possibly my greatest gaming moment ever.

They just dont make em like that anymore, to much instaant gratification.

yeah getting my epic 1.5 weapon in everquest was quite massive and far more painful than anything i've ever done in any videogame
it was a combination of these 3 quests with some awful zones that you could only raid in, almost all the parts needed at least a group of 5, faction involved, and all sorts of horrible stuff, LOTS of travelling involved spawn camping rare mobs, haha 99% of you would be like WTF if you even tried this
Fiery defender (epic 1.0)
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=763
then after you go through all that you do a quick prequest
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/q...tml?quest=3342
and then this quest which involves like 4 raid mobs to get the epic 1.5
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/q...tml?quest=2948

this quest took me about 2 YEARS to complete lol

also the Breakdown in Communication quest was pretty nuts from that game, although not as rewarding IMO

Everquest on ps2 was the best questing game I have ever played! What ever happened to the mmorpg on consoles? As much success as they had with that I cant believe they wouldnt have brought out another one

I have a new one to add here:

"A Fortress Besieged" in Dragon's Dogma.

Finished that quest last night, and it was awesome! (Stop reading if youre worried about spoilers)

You had to help clear an old fort that was taken over by Goblins. It was so cool: they had Ballistas that were firing explosive bolts, and there were tunnels in the courtyard that Goblins would pour out of. You could even get to and fire one of the Ballistas.

Once you sneaked INTO the fort, you had to find the handle to open the Gate, so your army could come in and help. You had a bucket load of Goblins, some Hobgoblins and some big-a$$ Cyclop's too. Then you had to face the final Hobgoblin Warlord at the end.

All in all, just a real fun quest, different, tough, and memorable.

+1 As did I. I'll never forget the feeling when the Shattered Emerald of Corruption finally dropped...

The Oblivion Dark Brotherhood Quest with the Party truly was great, especially when you got to know everyone and planned out the order of deaths to get the best reactions. Then, when only 3 are left convincing the other 2 to kill each other (because how could the nice guy who gave you 4k gold be evil?) Then as the winner thinks it is all over You stab them in the back. Nothing in Skyrim's Dark Brotherhood questline comes close.

I'm gonna add another. Tali's personal quest on Mass Effect 2 was awesome.

(don't read further if you're worried about spoilers)

The whole "Trial" thing, and the Migrant Fleet... those were very cool.

And having to make the decision at the end to implicate her (while saving face for her dead Father) - or throwing Pops under the bus were just awesome. I kept my mouth shut and let the charges against her stand (like she wished), standing idly by as she was sentenced into Exile. But Shepherd standing up and claiming her as part of HIS world (The Normandy) was quite cool.

It's on my list of cool quests.

Tali was a very well written character in general. She's easily in my all-time top 3 RPG NPCs.
