I was going to delete this post but I am reposting. I think these are great speakers for the money. I throw the gauntlet down to Chu. I love them.

Yes, I have heard of them, they are from the Velodyne family.
There speakers have been reviewed by Home Theater Magazine
plus Sound & Vision, and Home Theater HiFi - the reviews have
been positive. And the competition is tough, and they do tend to
have a somewhat B&W look.

I may be wrong about the owners - it has been awhile, so I will get
back with you. If I am wrong I will admit it, and lose $100.

I can't get into their website, I have personally never heard of them but the pedigree seems to be there and the price is in my wheel house.... Wish I could get more specs....

The website seems to be down for now - it has been awhile since
I explored it. They had my attention at one time - Velodyne rang
a bell, however my memory is a little tired.

about any money. This whole thing is interesting.

I saw the Secrets review but it seemed like a fluff piece to me, Randy. I thought their website was a bit hokey...crystal this...Crystal that. I didn't research it much but I got the impression someone was importing some Chinese made speakers from one of the puppy mills over there and just sticking some marketing BS on a webpage. No offence.

I think you just ought to sell all them speakers and move into the 10-20K range.

I gave you my honest opinion as to why I wasn't interested but I'll bow out now.

I am listening to the Fray disc and I think these speakers sound great. Should I take them to the WI and give them away if everyone thinks they are cheap Chinese crap? Let me know and I will do it. Are my ears gone? Who knows? Chu give up your anonimity and come!

I thank you for posting and sharing your review - and they seem to
be decent speakers. If they do bring you joy - then that is all that is
important.

Randy, we'd be happy to have you bring them for the April 14th speaker GTG. Please don't let anyone on this forum affect your opinion. If they sound good then they sound good. Period.

And it looks like you will still keep your $100 - I guess that I had
a brain burp - no real signs of an association with Velodyne.

I still want to hear, there bookshelf speaker one day.

Chu and I are fine. He called and explained his POV and I probably overreacted by being defensive. He did give me some tips on Crystal and said he thinks they may have some shared ownership (by one or more people) with Roister Audio which I have never heard of until today. He also mentioned taking a peak inside the speakers to see how well they look on the inside as opposed to the outside which is a good idea really. I will take a look at them probably over this weekend.

Just for clarification, Chu and I have had several emails and phone calls over a couple year period. I consider him a friend but like all friends sometimes they make you mad.....which I am over.

It certainly has excellent octave-to-octave balance. However, you have to enlarge the graph to see that the grid demarcations are 10 dB rather than the more revealing 5 dB, and that what you might think is 20 kHz is actually almost 32 kHz. So the droop at the top end actually doesn't amount to anything.

THX T2 floorstanders. The bigger THX T3 were the floorstanders in the review at Secrets home theater speaker set-up.

Hi all!

How nice! A thread about Crystal Acoustics loudspeakers on AVSForum!

Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! I will try to answer your inquiries as soon as possible! You can also send us e-mails with your questions, at info@crystalaudio.com

Some quick answers:

1. No, Crystal Acoustics is not related to Velodyne in any way.

2. The loudspeakers are engineered entirely by Crystal Acoustics and do not use any pre-manufactured / off-the-shelf parts. This means that the woofers, tweeters crossover and cabinet, are exclusive designs of Crystal Acoustics.

3. It is true that you may find our website to be offline sometimes, not only due to maintenance but also because we will soon re-launch it with a fresh new look!

Regards,

Crystal Acoustics
