Simple what one would you buy?

I bought the Dayton 3 years ago and it has served me well. It has plenty of power for my smallish room. I use it to a power 12" driver in a sealed box.

Parts Express also has a 300w BASH amp along with the SA-240.

I would consider buying which one is on sale (i.e., least expensive).

I have the PE 500w BASH amp and also the PE SA-240. Both work fine in my applications.

I'm a believer in the BASH amps. Best thing I like about them is how quiet they are with no signal. No hum whatsoever. The 240 I have has a slight hum. Also, I've had some 'old school' plate amps where the huge transformer itself was a source of noise. Not a problem with the BASH amps. I do have some smaller 'old school' types (the 100W type), and they are dead quiet too. But I'm fairly certain that if I were to buy another, it'd be a BASH type. I keep a 300W and 500W spare, just in case the bug hits me to build something.

I picked up my BASH 300 from Parts Express for $114 shipped. Not sure if that price is current.

my 240 hums as well, althought the wife makes me keep it turned down so low i don't even hear the hum ......

i was having major cable tv signal problems when i last tried turning it up and heard the hum. since then the cable stuff has been 95% resolved so maybe the hum has lessened.

can't say a Bash wouldn't do the same thing in my setup, but if i buy another plate amp i will probably give Bash a shot

-1 on the cheater plug thing... after some reading about electrical safety issues i've decided to make a significant effort to remove them from my house completely. i've changed a few 2prong recepticles to 3prong to avoid them in the past.

BASH pricing is correct as of today on PE's site...
SA 240 (and 240b) both only a few dollars more for 119.00

If you have pets or kids I would do the same. I don't and unplug all devices prior to working on them. The chances of anything going wrong are very small as well.
