They do. Anyway, eventually I can manually modify it.
My question was more on:
- the fitting in the FC8 EVO case is ok?
- the quality of the wide range picoPSU is good or the fixed 12V ones are better?
- and most important: will 120W be sufficient for a Haswell build with only RAM and SSD (no optical drive nor discrete video card)?

Thx,
Dakkar

2.5mm * 5.5mm is the right size for use with the picoPSU.
The quality of the WI picoPSU is very good
120W is more than enough with just the CPU + SSD

Great. Thank you!

I just noticed that the wide range input picoPSU only has 20 pin atx connector (instead of 24). Can I still use it on H/Z87 motherboards?
Some of the picoPSU models have the extra 4 pin connector. Check the pictures at http://www.mini-box.com/DC-DC

so the additional 4 pin are mandatory?
The extra 4pin connector carries more 12V current for the PCIe cards. If you have no high power draw cards (gfx, raid, etc) you can get away without using the extra 4pins.

I think I will wait for those (but I will need before 10th of december, so I hope they will arrive in time...).
Some questions:
- will the custom model with no odd slot be available with short pipes?
- will the price for the new units be the same as today (160$)? (if cannot post price, please PM me...)
- can you provide a different picoPSU model like PicoPSU-120-WI-25? If so, for how much? (if cannot post price, please PM me...)

Thx,
Dakkar

Ho much Thermal paste will I need for a FC8 EVO build?
Will 3,5 grams be sufficient?

Here is a problem: Manufacturers create motherboards with CPU socket in different places. For current 1150 mini ITX motherboards three different sizes of cooling pipes are required.
Look at these motherboards:

What length of pipes should we supply with chassis? Which motherboards are the most popular here?
I think that we should supply chassis with short pipes and offer long pipes as additional accessory, so people can swap pipes when they change motherboard.
Any opinion or suggestion is welcome here.

Any MiniBox PSU can be offered by us, if there is demand for it.

I would be interested in using a low-end 1150 mb like the ASRock B85M-ITX:

CPU on the right = short pipes.

Ok, so I should be able to get one FC8 EVO with no Optical Drive slot with short pipes at the end of november, right?

The Asrock Z87, that's the one I'm eyeing. I think the short pipes with long pipe option would work for everyone. But I need one with an optical disk slot, I thought that was standard on the Evo.

I'm not too familiar with Pico PSUs, but I need one that can run a 95W CPU (may downclock if thermals prove to be an issue), a couple SSD's, and an ODD. I'm not sure if I need a 120W supply or 150W.

95W TDP is in upper edge. Please remember that 95W TDP can go to 200W for short period of time, so be careful. I would rather go with 65W TDP to be safe - if you can.
Depends on applications you should consider 150 or 160W PSU and 150 W AC/DC converter IMO.

Thanks, that was just the information I was looking for. 65W it is, since it'll be on 24/7 that is probably best for thermal considerations.

The optional VESA compatible mount allows it to be hidden behind the monitor, but with looks like this, we think most people will have it on display.

I like to know if people in the USA are interested in such chassis.

Already ten day passed and no one is interested in this chassis? I receive only two e-mails before I posted this info and one phone call yesterday not related to this post.
Is the idea to bring them to the USA, senseless?

The P4 4-pin connector is for the CPU.

I haven't met a mini-ITX motherboard yet that need a 24-pin connector. 20-pin always seems to work. I've read the extra 4-pins is to provide more power for discrete GPUs but I don't use GPUs in my systems so I cannot say.

I would say bringing an NUC inspired chassis to the states isn't worth it. There are several players already in the space, and while they are having a small amount of success, most people that buy the Streacom products are looking to do a bit more customization than is allowed by the NUC designs.

Hello Zygmunt,

since I am waiting for the FC8-EVO with short pipes, can you please confirm the arrival of such chassis by beginning of December?

Thx!

I have just seen that the FC8WS EVO (with no ODD) has changed model number to FLM7.
Is that just a new naming or has anything changed?

Thx,
Dakkar

These chassis in black will arrive by end of October under Perfect Home Theater name. Short pipes shortly after.

Hi Kenks,

I'm about to buy a fanless haswell box that is largely inspired by your setup. I'm planning to buy the following:

Type Name
Cabinet Streacom FC8B EVO Black
PSU Streacom NANO150 PSU Adapter
USB 3.0 cable Streacom SC30 USB3.0 Internal Cable
Motherboard Zotac H87-ITX Wifi
ATX 24-pin extender DELTACO extender, power cable EPS/ATX12V 15cm
CPU Intel Core i5 4670T - 2,3 gHz - 45W - LGA1150 Socket - OEM
RAM Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3-1600 DC 8GB
SSD 250 GB Samsung 840 EVO
Slim SATA cable [tbd]

I might also add the streacom bluray drive.

  • Are you still satisfied with your stuff, or is there something that I should reconsider before buying?
  • You chose a 35W CPU - I'm about to buy a 45W CPU. Do you think that a 45W CPU (with 4 cores) would function fine in the cabinet?
  • What length should the ATX power cable extender be - will 15 cm be enough?

Best Regards,

Peter

Factory sent me one set for testing. After confirmation they will build large quantity and ship part by air to let me have them ASAP for current clients.

ok, thank you. Let us "non current clients" know when the short pipes are available together with the f8c evo in one set, and I'll get one of those.

I will. It will be as an option with fanless chassis and as a part.
