Exciting changes ahead - First, It's New Logo Time - Your vote is needed!

AVS Forum Members...

AVS Forum has been the leader in home theater information and discussion for well over a decade and as some of you may know due to hints mentioned here and there, we are slated for some much needed improvements and updates this year.

While we can't give away too much just yet, we do want to get the community involved in helping to narrow down a very important part of our exciting new look, our new logo.

Below we've chosen 3 logos that are emblematic of the AVS Forum history and spirit while reflecting a more modern aesthetic, indicative of the new the direction that the site is headed in. As a member of this great community, we asking for you to let your voice be heard in regards to this key part of our direction.

Our success wouldn't be possible without the participation and wealth of knowledge provided by the members and we want to take this time to thank you all for your continued involvement.

So please place your logo vote today and stay tuned for info on more improvements to come.

(The logos presented may not represent the final rendition and are shown in no particular order.)

LOGO 1

LOGO 2

LOGO 3

Special thanks to the design team and to the moderators of AVS Forum as we look to the future of the site.

Special Regards,

Why we need to change the Logo?

What's wrong with the old one?

3

poll ends

There they are!

I'm tied between the first (which is very retro and easy to read) and the third. There's something about the third however that bothers me. Maybe it's because the lettering is not very distinct. Extending the bar on the 'A' slightly might make it more clear and increasing the brightness of the gradient highlight to make the background forms more obvious might help.

Definitely Logo 1. the other two logos are confusing to look at.
I voted for 1, but I'd be fine with either 1 or 3.

#1 FTW! Easy to read, and the EQ-like graphics (along with RGB) keep the A/V theme.
#1 would be my choice
BUT really I don't like any of the three , there just is not a "Blow Yer Dress Up " factor to any of three , Just not a WoW or a Flash ! to any of the above.
Logo's must have a "0ne Of A Kind " look that says AVS in a unique way.
the digital colored LED's look like a throw back to the 90's Ish ..............
That style is dated big time .

Logo #1 gets my vote.

Logo #1 has my vote. It's clear, concise, and gets the point across

Cheers, Pete

I like the current logo best. Where's the "don't change it" option?

If you have to change it go with #1 and leave the "Since 1995" on it.

Yeah, why not add a fourth option for 'leave the old logo'? Make it non-biding so that if the old logo wins you can still go ahead and change it if you want. If the "White Collar" viewers can keep the show's old theme when the new one didn't strike their fancy then we can vote on our logo.

Old logo!!! Sometimes change is not for the better!

# 1 has my vote.

It is bright, clear and easy on the eyes.

Not at all confusing and cluttered as the others.

Simple and straight forward.
I voted for the one that was easiest to read. #1
post #18 of 240
Logo #1 is crisp and clean, with no caffeine.

The other two look far too much like "N"
If it must change, then #1. I think the old one is just fine though.
Totally agree with the majority of posters here-- the old one is dandy but #1 is the best of the 3 options in this poll. Don't pull and Audiogon and "fix" things that don't need fixing.

I already want a t-shirt (long sleeved?) with logo 1 on it.

Really nice, good work!

#1 of the choices listed, but as others noted, the old one is just fine...

Yikes at the brushed metal getting all the votes. Just as dated as the current logo without the "classic" feel. The rest is nice though.

Ideally it'd be the lettering on Logo 3 with some tweaks , the F from Logo 1 , and IMO get rid of the word forum. Not needed. Pepsi doesnt say soda , FedEx doesnt say delivery , Att doesnt say COMM... AVS is all thats needed the F happens to fit in nicely.

When did the concept of being readable become "dated" ?

Merging letters into one big mess of a hard to read font is not "modern" or "cool." It's just annoying.

And no, we don't need to keep abbreviating everything until words no longer exist. Just as "app" is an annoying forced "catchy" word and not preferable over "application" whatsoever, so is removing the word forum and just sticking an F in there to create this vague string of letters.

I like #1 best but IMHO I'd drop the "forum" from it.

A logo is meant for easy identification and brand recognition . Not easy legibility.
Look at MLB hats for reference.

NO issue with the F. AVS alone would be fine. The mixing of the AVS makes it harder to read but Logo 1 is just a 30 second slap on to text.

A V S
Forum

Would also the AVS to be easily identifiable without forcing the redundancy of F and Forums. Shouldnt have both.

None of these are as good as the current logo. I just mishmashed in PS and still dont like it. Est.1995 should stay as well.

ZERO offense to anyone who worked on these. But this is a prominent go to long standing site that people go for to get educated and professional opinions. Its logo should reflect that. The Fs are the only things that were done nicely so if given the choice they stay.

Was there a contest for these ? If not make one , give users some kind of style guide and Im sure you'll get fantastic results.

I'll add my vote for #1
