I prefer the existing one to any of the new ones, but if you must change I voted for number 1.

as is I vote for #1

but if the 3rd logo could separate the A and V into separate letters then it would get my vote...blending the A and V together does not look good

Yep.....One is my choice also.

But, while we're addressing the site, I have a lingering issue. Hope someone might give me a clue as to the cause.

I get the yellow information bar at the top that says: "An add-on for this website failed to run. Check the security settings in Internet options for potential conflicts."

I see nothing in regards to what is conflicting.

Ideas? Been doing this for well over a year, only on AVSForum.

Number 1 is the most legible of the three, and I see why it needs to be (there are a few different versions around just depending on who had what font loaded at the time I'm guessing), but I do prefer a Serif font for this site-more in keeping with the "Science" aspect, and little more scholarly. But maybe something a little more forward than the older styles in place. I don't like the color bars as a letter since I think they don't read as clearly, and I do think the phrasing of the logo should break into "AVS" and "Forum"- when discussing with other people the abreviation we use is always AVS (AV is just audio-video, and nobody calls it AVSF). But the silver/grey, with the color bars as accent are the right direction I think.

+1 I agree with everything you said. When I opened the thread the first thing that I popped into my mind was "none of the above", but because I had to choose, I chose number 1. The other two can be confusing to those unfamiliar with the site.

I like the current logo. It looks like Miami Vice. It lets everyone know that you have been around for a very long time. Lends more legitimacy.

I like the old logo the best, but of the three new ones -#1 is definately the best!

I agree, post a challenge to avsmembers to design a logo. Give a free 10 year membership for the winner. You'll likely have some fantastic creative submissions.

Otherwise number one looks great.

Number 3 seems to meet the design objectives best and I happen to like it a lot. I would like to see more emphasis on meeting the objectives rather than just voting on what we like best. I don't think we were asked to do that.

I like logo #3; it is an excellent stylised version of the current logo. This contemporary logo will still look great over time.

#1 for clarity but it's nothing special. I see where you were going with #'s 2 and 3 - an abstraction of bent film but it's visually confusing. A contest is a great idea.

#1 is my vote also. Agree, lose the word "Forum" from it abd perhaps make the letter "AVS" a little larger. Otherwise at small sizes (icons) it'll be unreadable.

Do you have any research studies to back that up?

I voted for #1. I am not in love with it, exactly, but I had an immediate negative reaction to both of the others. The equalizer/level indicator is a good element to have.
