Yeah #2 and #3 seem to imply something with the letter 'N'

Which is my favorite letter, but I pick #1 by default. Feels like a presidential election. Hey YO!

I agree with mikemaxj. Use Logo #1 but with the color bars from #2.

The red bars on #1 looks like nearing the clipping threshold of audio, which annoys me to no end. If the bars from #2 were substituted with the rest of #1 it may work as well to fade them evenly, reminiscent of the current logo.

Keep the old one, or go with number 1. Do you really want to be known (by word of mouth) as 'NE AVS Forum" (logo 2) or 'NSF Forum' (logo 3)?

I voted #1. But...

With a little tweaking, #3 could be awesome. The "A" and the "V" need to be separated or otherwise distinguished so they do not blend together to form an "N". Also, since the lettering was done using what appears to be a continuous "ribbon", two rows of holes could be added to make it look like film, perhaps only for the "S":

As a graphic designer I can't approve any of these. They are ALL way too busy. One doesn't need to add additional clutter to an already cluttered banner. Try some new designs this time in Illustrator or even In-Design. Logos aren't meant to be created in Photoshop, any designer will tell you that. Start with some pencil sketched roughs for ideas before jumping on the computer. Also think of how this logo will look and reproduce at smaller sizes and without multi colors. I Don't mean to sound this critical but if you're going through the effort of changing and updating your image and branding there should be a real thought process behind the logo design going on. Otherwise what's the point? I'd love to see some new ideas. Best of Luck.

I like 3 but 1 is also nice.

Edit: just read through others, and I like this idea here. Use the color bars from 2 with the text from 1.

Also, keep in mind a square version for the favicon and App icons on iOS and Android.

Edit 2: I'm a bit crazy, but I still like the old icon, and to be honest, i still like the black/blue/purple/yellow/orange theme of yore:

Voted 1. Crisp, clean and modern. I dislike the missing S in 2. 3 is kind of slick, but in a 'I drank too many 5 hour energy drinks' kind of way. EXXXTREEEEMMEE!

I too voted for number one.

One reason, is when I talk about "the forum" I don't say AV Science Forum.....I say AVS Forum. I guess that was the real clincher to me. I like the basic design elements in 2 and 3, the look more modern, but with change in fashion they could looks really out of date very easily.

Number 1 just seems more solid, but the S does seem to need have more a slant to match the A and V. It seems to just look a little different.

Since there is a none of the above choice; I go with 1.

Added my vote for #1. If things must change, #1 looks the best. Crisp and easy to read. Nice layout also, with the LED segments.

The old logo fails in a very obvious respect, least of which the design is dated.

NO ONE calls this place AV science forum. EVERYONE calls this place AVS forum. It's a short hand name that has concretely renamed the site over a decade in the mind of it's users. And the only logo that acknowledges this simple fact is logo 1 for some reason...

old logo...take the "science" out of the logo and the whole feel changes...

Number 2 is the only one that doesn't have 'red push', so it gets my vote!

I'd strongly suggest getting someone to design a proper logo.

None of them look very good. You mention "looking to the future", but all three logos have an 80's feel.

You need to have a logo that shows depth and motion, which is what most current logos depict.

#3 does it the best, so of those three, that's the one I'd pick, but it could be much better than that.

Really, do any of them say Audio or Video or Current or Modern? No.

Since changes are being made to the site, I hope the administrator and moderators will consider not resetting the unread threads until they are actually read instead of having them reset after a time out period.

Nope, 2 of them look like Microsoft's Icons for the current office suite. Not 80's but definitely taken.
