Audio desynchronized with Samsung D8000 over HDMI 1.4

It seems to be worst for 720p, though is noticeable even on 1080p.

The source is just fine when I view it on my regular computer over DVI, so it seems like I should be able to do something other than just audio shift in my media player. I think it's something along the lines of "input lag" coming from my HTPC.

The two players I use are Media Player Classic - HomeCinema and XBMC (with ffdshow for dts/ac3 passthrough) .

Has anyone got any suggestions for me? Thanks

Way too little information to help. Is your HTPC connected to an AVR? When you say the sync is fine with your "regular computer over DVI", what is your regular computer hooked-up to for video and audio? Are you sending audio over HDMI? Does the video go to a regular TV? What is the HDMI version of the video card?

Unfortunately, just knowing the name of the media players doesn't help much.

Sorry - you're right, that's not enough information.

My setup is:
HTPC Source - HDMI Out to Pioneer VSX-52 receiver
Receiver HDMI out to Samsung D8000

For my computer over DVI I just mean a basic desktop setup. Computer with integrated audio hooked up to an LCD monitor (1080p) over DVI. The video on that is ati 4870x2.

As far as I know the video cards support HDMI1.4.


Did I leave anything else out?

What happens if you try the HDMI signal direct to the TV? Is the TV audio also out of sync?

What I think might be happening is that the computer audio is still enabled and the sync is being set for the computer rather than the AVR.

Thanks - I will test that as soon as I get a chance and let you know. Assuming it is what your hunch tells you, would I simply need to disable the "speakers" device in the audio configuration?

If you're getting the same lag on the TV without the AVR, then the problem would appear to be in the source. If that is the case, you'll have to do some experimenting to see what works. Disabling the "speakers" or making HDMI the primary audio would be where I'd start.

Where is the problem?

01. HTPC + DVI Display - sound and video are in Sync!

02. HTPC > AVR > Display - sound is out of Sync unless you adjust the HTPC or the AVR!

Sounds about right - otherwise there would be no need for audio delay in the Source or AVR!

I'm assuming you don't want to be fiddling with the audio delay in the HTPC every time you swap between PC monitor and AVR + Display - if yes then use the Digital Audio delay in the AVR and leave the HTPC optimised' for use with the DVI Display!

PS Saying your card is 1.4' means nothing unless you then list which Features it supports!
