The Chief mounting system uses a down pole, The pole is a common size and thread such that you can walk into a Home Depot and they will cut you the exact length and thread it for you, Take it home clean and spray paint black.

Don't overlook the opportunity to raise the fan.

Depending on the make and model projector the required mounting height will vary. Some will need to be even with the top edge of the screen, some can go a percentage higher. A few had a fixed vertical offset that required the projector to be a fixed percentage of the screen height above the screen. So you need to know.

If redirecting the pj heat isn't effetive then I will be installing for a low profile ceiling fan in my theater. There are low profile fans that you can install that only extend down 9" from the cieling.
