You can do better on price with that receiver, but I think its a good choice. For the same money you can get into a 3312, which has pre-outs if you ever think you might want external amplification. Here is a useful thread for comparison shopping online:

If you don't need preouts, the 2112 is also solid and can be had for $450 and save you a little coin.

Edit: I'd also post in the subwoofer forum specifically for subs and maybe up the budget to get something a little better with the money you save on the receiver. If you can get into the $500-700 range an internet direct sub will smoke the one you are looking at, like this one:

Thank you for your comments... I agree with upgrading the amp. I may well be expanding the systems to other rooms in future. I have found all the items on Amazon for cheaper and have now the following items in my Amazon Cart:

Denon AVR 3312CI
Polk Audio PSW505 (a much bigger sub for less money)
Polk Audio TSi200 (2 pairs)
Polk Audio CS20 (centre speaker)

All the above for $1981.70 from Amazon. All items eligible for FREE shipping.

Give me a good reason for NOT proceeding to checkout.

They are grossly just not overpriced, yes. But it is still the best analogy so far in this thread.

I'd take a little time on the sub and post in the subwoofer forum for some options, unless you are in a real hurry. And I'll stand on the Rythmik FV12 suggestion in the $500 price range, from what I have read its a lot of sub for the money.

I would definitely call Electronics Expo and see what's the best price they can give you on the 3312. They're an authorized Denon dealer and I wouldn't be surprised if they were $100-200 cheaper than Amazon.

I really appreciate your help. It is not the time that is the issue, its the money. Just like the original poster, Im trying to keep the total under $2000. To get the Rythmik FV12 is $565 (incl shipping), whereas the PSW505 is only $249. Can you recommend a good reliable supplier of the Rythmik FV for a more comparable price? I cant find it on BestBuy, Amazon, nor Expo. I want to avoid EBAY. I feel that the PSW505 is a bargain at that price. It was previously listed at $589 saving 58%

Regarding Electronics Expo, is that an actual quote from them or just what you see listed on their website? They list the 4311 for $2100 but I just purchased one from them for nearly 40% less.

FYI-Rythmik is sold internet direct (ID) and not in stores.

Yeah...before I purchased Lexus/Toyotas I had 2 F150s. Super cab and standard. Still like the dependability of the Toyota/Lexus and the resale value. My last 2 AVR purchases have been Denon a 3808ci and A100

Yeah, definitely give them a call (or chat with customer service). I'm guessing they would sell it for 25-35% off list price, shipped and no tax. Not sure whether or not they carry the Polk speakers.

An $1100 receiver and a $250 sub is a misallocated budget. You are buying a top level receiver and budget level 12" sub. Take jjackkrash's suggestion for the FV12 and get the Denon AVR-2112ci instead. The better receiver will offer you minimal return in audio quality compared to what the FV12 will do.

IIRC, EE will sell the 3312 for around $800 shipped and the 2112 for $450 shipped. FWIW, my brother in law has a 2112 and is very happy with it, and it has the same room correction software the 3312 has. Either way, that would get you into the Rythmik given your total budget. The MSRP for that Polk sub isn't a realistic price and it is priced appropriately on sale, but I wouldn't call it a great value even at the discounted price. I am confident that the Rythmik would crush that Polk sub and would be more than worth the difference in price.

I will go into Expo tomorrow and enquire about the price for the amp. It is not imperative that everything comes from the same supplier. If I can save $200 by buying the amp there, then I will upgrade to the Rythmik FV12.


Nobody has discussed my choice of "bookshelf" speakers. Are they OK? (TSi200 and CS20)

I appreciate all your comments in helping me make the right decision.

You might find this thread interesting, it compares the FV15 to some other subs, and, IIRC, every other sub discussed in the thread is more expensive, which is why I think the FV15 is a good value at its listed price.

I don't have a Camry, but my two-channel set-up is in my truck. If I want to listen to music, I just go drive around. The biggest problem is 8 MPG.
