I will check on the website to get the GTC corrected but we are going strong with the line so it is not going to disappear. We have been changing servers in Germany due to issues with not only the website but having email issues. I do have a dealer outside of Miami called Maxicon. They are showing the Tensor and have sold GTC in theaters but they are not showing a GTC system. There number is 305-479-2679. We can work with them if you wish to work out the time to visit them.

Do these measurements reflect your own, 2sides?

I do not have the final graph from our main company but I will ask and see. This looks like the review graph, correct?

It is neat to see, minus that valley between 1.7 and 8.5KHz... It starts right at the upper midrange (I assume), so it concerns me a bit. That's why I asked about 2side's reference measurements, as it would be nice if it was flat all the way out to at least 16KHz.

Need off axis measurements. Those valleys could disappear off axis. Of course, other things could appear off axis.

The valley is only about -3db, so it isn't a huge deal IMO. Of course flatter is always nice.

But it has a wide bandwidth. Like Curtis said, though, it could disappear off-axis, so I'm giving the manufacturer the benefit of the doubt.

A couple of items for everyone here. First the GTC on the website has been moved from the home area to a new area called installation. All the info on the products are there. For the discussion of LCR, they are all identical speakers. The GTC77 and GTC88 have panels on them so that the tweeter/midrange is in it's own enclosure and mounted on the panel. One of the woofers is also mounted on a panel so they can be interchanged. You tweeter/mid can be moved down to the middle if the speakers are mount higher and in that middle position, you can rotate it 90 degrees and put the speaker horizontal. So this is why these speakers blend together so well. The GTC were designed to give as much of our sound as we could while be able to play the spl that many theaters require. I am having a pair of Columns being reviewed now and we will see what the graph shows there. The tweeter is the same but the other drivers are different.

Hi All, Just stumbled across this thread and decided to write a quick note. We are ADAM-Audio dealers located in Miami Florida. We have a working showroom showcasing a 5.1 system that consists of a pair Tensor Gamma for right and left, a Tensor Center as center (of course) and a pair of Tensor Epsilons for surrounds. Currently we are using a REL Britania B2 for a sub. We regularly get different products in for customer demonstration as needed and as long as we get enough time to request the demos from ADAM. Reading the article I was quite surprised that a veteran reviewer like Fremer had not ever heard of Adam.

I've had my eye on Adam for a few years now, exciting products top to bottom,....especially at the top. Saw a recent pic of Adam near-fields being used at the phenomenal Massenburg's/Blackbird room. Although their 21" sub is geared more for studio work and music,... than the demands of high excursion HT material, you gotta love a mfr offering an active 21" sub just because.

I've been tossing around some new near-fields myself. There's a market that off the chart competitive. Superbly performing products, at extremely high value prices. It is amazing what's availed to us if you wanted a small active two way. Whether it's Adam, or another mfr like KRK, JBL, Yamaha, and others,......the active/dsp contoured small near-field market is amazing for as little as $500 a pair. Hell, even hard core Behringer haters love them some Behringer 2031's,...a steal at under $200 apiece!

Yep, I'd have to consider the Genelecs are much more prevalent. One primary obvious difference is the pattern control and use of a compression HF driver of the Genelec. One would need to consider the dispersion/coverage characteristics, and sidewall acoustics of the environment in which they're used as co-dependent design elements of the two big products. Clearly, anyone dabbling at this level should already be at that point.

Yes, I'd enjoy hearing the varying differences between these two designs.



There are several big mains mfrs around. Many are one off, custom builds of well vetted designs. One mfr, Ocean Way, produces even larger studio monitor systems,...significantly larger if you can believe it.
Their big system "provides a very natural effortless sound with the ability to produce staggering impact if required."

Essentially, you're in front of a PA....you could monitor a live levels without encountering non-linearities from the loudspeakers related to high playback levels. Keeping the operational level of each individual voice coil as centered in it's own magnetic circuit as possible is effective at reducing Bl asymmetry distortions. So hell yeah, I'll take two

I've also been impressed by what I've heard of these speakers at shows. Been exchanging emails with the above referenced Roger Fortier at Adam, they sell the GTC line direct. I'm about to order a pair of GTC-77's at $1125 ea, they cover shipping. They'll replace a pair of Def Tech STS in a 2-channel music system. I'll post info on the order, receiving and set-up progress...

It will be interesting because I've really enjoyed my time with the STS, which were also well reviewed by Stereophile:

They took a while to dial in and the sweet spot is pretty small, but the low end (not close to DT's specs but an honest low 20's in my room) is amazing for such a small and affordable speaker. Their high efficiency also allows a lot of flexibility in terms of amp choices. I'll have both on hand, seems like an honest comparison since they're close in price...
