It's a contrary thing. Most apple users like to go against the big dog.
There is always a certain "root for the underdog" and the" big company is an evil empire" mentality in humans.
Now though... apple is huger than ever so the tides might turn soon. Who knows.
Apple generally focuses on the user experience more- and this give people the warm fuzzy feeling.
I saw a cool research article on toms hardware a while back that researched users of different operating systems.
Some things I remember from it:
"Apple users are generally more emotional people than either PC or Linux users"
"apple users thought they had the highest IQ's, but in reality over all they scored even with Windows, and lower than Linux" or something like that. Basically there was a small difference in reality when tested, but a huge difference in the "percieved". It did not line up with reality at all. Almost like the apple users were more arrogant in thier personal abilities.
It was interesting article- I will see if I can dig it up. It definetely made sense to me based on what I have seen in real life.
I mean- apple certainly has some niche areas it can excel at- like the video editing world. But overall- on a whole it's no where near as versatile as WINDOWS which has much more possible options.
I think windows 7 is for sure the perfered choice for hometheater. SO many cheap and well designed software and hardware components to choose from.
