Accessories4less has Sherwood R972 for sale at $599.99 with free shipping. Has latest firmware 1.47v. Brand new units with 3 year warranty. If somebody is interested in trying Trinnov now the price is more palatable. Seems like most of the bugs have been worked out of the units. New units apparently are capable of 3D passthrough.

Hi Vinod
how does this compare to Pioneer and Denon. I am a newbie as you might have guessed so go easy.

Which make of the ones i have mentioned would you compare this unit with.

I had a 972 2 yr ago, got frustrated with the bugs, got a Denon 4810 and then 4311.

I sold the 4311 to get another 972.

The basic sound quality is just way better than the Denon's; more relaxed and refined.

That's before even getting to Trinnov, which I'm still fussing with - you do need a fair amount of patience.

Even so, in its present less than optimum state I'm happy I switched.
