I am having an issue with viewing shows using Amazon's streaming where the image is a little squished vertically and there are black bars on the _sides_ of the screen. Is there a way I can set up Amazon's streaming so the image fills my TV screen better?
- I have checked the aspect ratio settings for both the player AND the Vierra Cast settings menu and tried a few things with no solution. YouTube videos go full screen just fine, as do videos it reads from my USB drive
- I'm going into an older non-HD Panasonic TV, via the RCA connectors.
Could you specify the exact aspect setting you have on the 220?
And what movies/shows you watched that displayed the black bars on the sides?
I ask because the exact same thing occurs using Netflix on an Insignia BR Player when the aspect ratio is set to 16:9 connected to a CRT tv on titles that are originally shot in 4:3. Black bars on the sides, rather than normal full screen when said player is set to 4:3. Titles that are shot 16:9 fill the screen completely, with no letterbox bars on the top/bottom (on CRT with player aspect ratio set to 16:9).
Same thing happens on a PS3 when moving it from the living room HDTV, to the tube tv down in the basement.
So if it isn't already, set the BDT220 aspect ratio to 4:3, and play the same Amazon title, and see if you get the bars along the sides.
