Hello All,

I am new to this forum and at the cost of asking a very basic and repeated question..

What are the option to modify the BDT230 to make it region free for Blu Ray?

Good luck. Not easy to get, and not free.

I just received a 320 to go with my new Vizio M Series. Can someone link the setting for the player? I would rather not go through 127 pages.
Thanks so much!

Many thanks for the info. The problem I have though is that I can only see the setting-up menu by using composite video cables.
So when I try and select HTMI Output in the Picture menu, I get the following pop-up message:

CANNOT SELECT.
SETTINGS CAN ONLY BE CONDUCTED WHEN CONNECTION TO TV IS BY HTMI CABLE.

And when I use a HTMI cable, I am not seeing the set-up menu on screen to be able to adjuct the HTMI Output . Arghhhhhhhhh.......mad.gif

See if this works.

Put in a different region disc. When the region warning comes up, press Stop, 1, Enter.

It does work with, but supposedly, not all discs.

Why? No issues here with it on. Whether I run through several devices or straight to the TV, Deep color has never caused me any problems. And certainly no lip sync problems.

I have the same problem with an older Scott branded 720p TV. The player and HDMI cable work fine on a newer 1080p TV, but blank on the Scott branded one which is about 5 years old.

Similarly, I can't change HDMI settings when connected with composite (HDMI also connected but blank). Also tried setting the player's HDMI output to 720p on the newer TV then reconnect to older TV to no avail.

I suspect the 320 (my model) series has a problem with HDMI detection, specifically down-scaling to 720p. Does anyone have an older 720p TV working with this series?

Can you play the same mkv file from a network share?
Are they h264 encoded video?

That's interesting to know and I'll keep your problem in mind. My tv is only a couple of years old though (the HTMI connection input video signal covers the range from 480i to 1080p) and as the BD60 displays its set-up menu without any problem then I'm sure the 220 should be able to do so as well. Time will tell though as the dealer is now replacing my problematic player with another one.

Im really disappointed... im starting to think there is no smart way of playing 3d mkv files with subtitles... im sad if i have to jump to philips. atleast my friends cheapo 5200 plays 3d subtitles directly from
srt23dass converted .ass file.
This player rocked, but if this ain´t somehow handled im forced to take it back.

by the way how did the country change happen ? is it enough i start the viera connect and register, the viera starts at germany default. im in finland.

Well, to cut a long story short, this afternoon I took my player down to my brothers place, hooked my 220 (via my HTML cable) up to his little technic tv and what do you know? It works perfectly. eek.gif Set-up menu appears correctly and the dvd disc played fine on his tv. Anyway, having at last got into the set-up menu via an HTMI connection (I could only get the set-up menu via the video cables at home),I took the opportunity of turning off the Deep Colour setting (as suggested by teachsac).

When I got home and connected it all up again to my tv........and its still the same problem. No sound or vision appearing on my television from the blu-ray player via the HTMI connection (although the video composite connection works fine). So I'm now in the position of knowing that the blu-ray player is working perfectly (at my brothers anyway) and I know my television and cables are working perfectly as i have absolutely no problem with my Panasonic BD60 player. Its just that the 220 and my television don't seem to be on speaking terms! Maybe they fell out in a previous life? biggrin.gif

I've actually cancelled the replacement player as there is nothing wrong with the one I have so now I'm back to square one. Hmmm..........confused.gif

HELP! with my NEW Panasonic DMP BDT500

Hello everyone,
New in here. Me and hubby just bought this new kick-ass player lol it's a brilliant player but the LED panel keeps flashing and this is the second item. The first item arrived last week but we sent it back to amazon as the LED keeps flashing so we thought it might be defective. We got the replacement today and it's the same problem. It works don't get me wrong but the flashing is just plain annoying and it shouts DEFECT to me lol sorry, the letters are constantly flickering . If anyone can shed some light on this one would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

This very thing has happened before earlier in this thread but I don't know if the person ever figured out what was wrong. I know that getting two players, back to back, having the same problem is pretty slim so I would think it isn't the player that's at fault for the flickering display.

The first thing I would do is try a new HDMI cable. I only say that because HDMI cables have been known to do weird things when they appear to be perfectly fine.

As far as both players that you received having the same problem with the display just doesn't make sense to me so I would have to say the problem is somewhere else.

I hope you get this right because I couldn't ask for a better blu ray player.

Hey guys....I have a quick question regarding audio on my new BDT-220....I have HDMI from player going into my Yamaha RX-V475 receiver & I'm noticing that on some movies the dialogue seems to sound a little on the "muffled" side. I'm running Definitive Technology ProCinema 60's along with a ProCenter 60. While music & TV broadcasts sound perfect, some blu-rays & standard dvd's sound a little "flat" in the dialogue area. Are there any audio settings I should be checking in the 220's menu? Only reason I'm "assuming" it's in the player is like I mentioned, TV's shows & Pandora streamed from my Yamaha sound perfectly crisp.

Thanks so much guys!!!!!
Carmine.

Apologies if this has already been covered, but I have waded through 50+ pages and can't find what I'm looking for.

Bought this player a while ago. (9 months or so?) Brought it home, connected everything, it worked great.

Over a couple of months, it was slower and slower to connect to netflix. Annoying, but it still worked. And then it didn't. At all.

I can't get it to connect over wifi. It connects to the router, but won't go any further than that. All of this seems to be since a firmware update. I've found lots of people online who claim the same issue with this model, but no solutions. I've done hard resets, reset my router, every fix I could seem to find- and nothing.

Still plays DVDs and Blu Ray, but that's not what I primarily need it for! I bought this model particularly b/c of the netflix/internet option.

Is there a fix? If I take it down to our main media center and connect it through a wired connection, is there a new firmware fix I can download? Is there a fix to this, or am I just screwed? Thankfully I bought it at Costco, but I have let my membership lapse, so if I return it, I can't replace it there.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Go to the trouble shooting page in the Owner's Manual and do the player reset. There is also a NF reset somewhere in the last few pages or so..

My BD65 recently did the same thing. NOTHING fixed it. Everything works fine, except it won't stream Netflix. I replaced it with a 230.

Thanks for the responses so far. I have done the factory resets, it was no help.

Sad to hear that yours had to be replaced, Jim. I don't want to have to resort to that. The good news is that Costco will give me a full refund though, I guess. But I guess my question is still this: were you able to connect to the internet at all? Was it just netflix that you couldn't access? Because mine currently won't connect wirelessly to the internet at all.

I'm going to hook it up directly through the router tonight when I get home from work and see if I can get any updates that way.
I am so damn frustrated I could cry.

I took my system apart and hauled it downstairs to do a wired firmware update. This included hauling my tv downstairs as well, because the set up my roommate has for the one down there is so messed up I can't even begin to unhook stuff. Got it all hooked up, downloaded the update, got it all to connect wirelessly. Awesome sauce.

Move everything back up, and it won't ****ing connect again.

It's in the same position (everything is) that it was when it was working just fine in the beginning. It continues to say that it's connected to the network with full strength, but will NOT connect to the goddamn internet.

What the hell? I don't know what to do. If it's able to connect to the router, why won't it connect to the internet? It was able to do so 15 minutes ago. Does the proximity to the router change that? I'd understand if it couldn't connect to the wireless network, but I get a pass on that, and the IP address, but fail on connection to gateway and internet.
Hopefully this will be my last post here.

I had one more trick up my sleeve. I didn't have much faith in it, but I'm desperate.

I dug out an old Linksys router and piggy backed it on top of the one we use from the internet company.

I don't know if it just has a better range (probably) or if has something to do with the routers themselves, but I seem to have found a solution for my problem.

Oh, and I wanted to say to Jim McC, I grew up in Waukesha. I'm proud to say I can totally pronounce Oconomowoc. smile.gif

Yeah, it connected to the internet. It would stream Youtube and everything BUT Netflix. Very weird. I gave it to my daughter, she can at least play DVD's and Blu-rays.

Glad to hear you can pronounce Oconomowoc !!

I've had the 220 for a few months now and it's acting really strange. Whenever we watch 3d movies (blu ray) the screen with either go black or show a scrambled image for a second - typically during action sequences. I'm fairly sure this is the player and not my receiver because no other devices have these problems. Is there a solution to this or do I need to buy a new player?

edit:
Also, what is "Contents type flag"?
