Question about speakers in a shadow box.

I thinking of building a shadow box for my speakers in my ht similar to the one done by BritinVA. Is it ok if my center channel is set back a few inches into the box? The shadow box will only be 2x2 or 2x3 covered with gom. If I move the center channel close to the material it will be closer to the seating area then the left and right speakers. Hopefully I am being clear. Thank you in advance for any help.

A lot of the current receiver options have the ability to adjust individual speaker delays for actual distance variations either manually or with the built in automated room analyzers.

Ok thanks for the advice. If I change the speaker distance setting will that have a negative effect on the sound quality?

If you have a row of three theater seats and you move from the center to the right seat do you notice a difference in sound quality? You would be moving a couple of feet closer to the right and two feet farther from the left.

If you already have your speakers set them up and pull the center closer to you and see what you think, I'm betting you won't find a problem with it.
